SWINDON TOWN: McCrory rubbishes Di Canio sack plan report

McCrory rubbishes Di Canio sack plan report
JED McCrory has rubbished a report in a national newspaper this morning claiming his consortium plans to sack manager Paolo Di Canio and replace him with Mike Newell and Brian Stein.
The Daily Mirror ran a story in their Wednesday edition which stated the prospective new owners of the Robins were ready to make the move due to the sizeable wages Di Canio earns at the County Ground.
However, in a statement released exclusively to the Swindon Advertiser, McCrory has nonsensed the suggestions.
His statement reads: "I feel the need to break the NDA (non-disclosure agreement) due to the breaking story (in the Mirror).
"I have had no contact or conversation, be it email, telephone or any other means, with Mike Newell.
"We are disappointed that people are putting stories together due to the uncertainty over the situation and would like to state we are looking forward to working with Paolo Di Canio and the team going forward.
"We are working tirelessly to bring the purchase of the club to an end to allow all to return to normality. As a football fan I am aware of the need to end this uncertainty as soon as possible."

Lets get the takeover through and build on this great successful team that we already have.
Paolo Di Canio needs some support in the Boardroom for sure.
He knows he has it from the Supporters & Players.
Come On !!!! - Bring it on Saturday.

Now, as I said on an earlier thread, come on everyone, try and get past the hype, speculation, worry, rumour, scaremongering..... etc. Patience and / or facts. Thats what we need and nothing else. We will all know soonn enough what is to happen and this should be revealed in the next 48 hours. Keep open minds and crossed fingers until then as all else is a waste of your nerves and time.
I was there last night at Colcheter and what a great game. We sang, we laughed and we made the players and PDC know how much we care and want them to keep pushing through. The whole night reminded me of why I am and always will be a STFC fan. The trip on the bus where we made new friends, put the world right and took the pi55 out of each other. In the ground at the bar, a few beers and more merriment and a warm of the vocal chords. Then pitch side, applauding the team, ritual mocking and ridicule of home fans and ground - more merriment. Kick off, only voices heard - ours as we motivated and cheered on the Town. Half time, more beers and merriment and more friends. Second half - the ecstacy of a goal and the nerves as we fought and ground out a well defended win and 3 points. Then the afterwards as we applauded the team and sang their praises and then the emotional chanting and pleading to PDC to stay. Back on the bus, more comraderies and targeted mickey taking. Got home worn out but happy - why - because I am an STFC fan. As such I am going to be there whatever, for such nights as these - because they make up for the bad days. Players, Managers and Boards will come and go but the one true constant is the fans - my friends and extended family. Warmth and respect!! See you Sat and COYR!! 3 more points and PDC to stay please.

The NDA - where would the mirror have gotten the info from?
How would it make sense to get rid of PDC when they'd have to pay off his contract?
Why would they try and get rid of PDC given the success he's brought?
Why make their first action getting rid when it would have a backlash from the supporters?
Usual nonsense from the papers.

I really hope it doesn't happen as I love this club, but I could not bring myself to watch a team under the management of Newell.
Basically the mirror article is rubbish, we all know that.
If PDC is on that much then surely sacking him and paying him the money that he is owed is not a good idea?
Mickey Mouse papers annoy me.
Great result last night! If PDC stays we win the league, if he goes, we will not make playoffs; simple as that really.

A couple of years is a decent balance between giving the manager some security and not lumbering the club with a massive contract they can't get out of IF things ever start going wrong. The last thing the Town needs is anything like Pardew's 8 year deal at Newcastle (long-term fans might remember Bristol City giving Alan Dicks and a load of his players massively long contracts, and we can all laugh at how well that turned out)

Not been the best week in our history for sure.
Today I climbed out of my sick bed and drove to Crawley feeling sick both physically and mentally from all what has happened this week.
The game was poor for sure but you know what the "old" faces were there, Swindon passion, laughter and whatever else you want its the fans that make you carry on.
At the whistle PDC came onto the pitch and clapped "us fans" and you know what "The FL, Oxford,Danny Wilson can all get lost.
We are / were here today and will be next week. This Club must have the biggest swings from depression and success than any other Club and I wouldn't swap my supporting history with any glory hunting premiership arm chair "fan".
"We are Swindon and we are here to stay"
Two fingers up to anything that is thrown at us. PDC is and will always be a god and hope he stays, but today was about being with those Supporters who in a strange way are family and always will be.
As for Jed and the Banbury Massive lets wait and see what happens. Tonight is just another Saturday night after coming back "on the road" what I love doing and still do. Supporting STFC. Tonight nothing drastic has happened and we have to take each day as it comes.
........and was a bonus to be interviewed on SKY and have the chance to say something nationwide about the "special one."
Off to bed now feeling poor but will drop off to sleep hearing the Swindon faithful, seeing Rooney peel away from scoring in front of the fans.
Nothing changes .............Til we Die.

The takeover, which is due to be approved by the Football League in the next 48 hours, meant the club avoiding going into administration after amassing debts believed to be in the region of £13m.

While it's been a difficult time for everyone at the club, I sincerely hope that both the incoming Board and PDC can get to the point of 'mutual respect' very quickly and can find a way of working together for the benefit of the club.
It would be very disappointing for all fans of STFC (me included) to lose a manager who is a winner and shows so much passion and commitment to the club's success. There's not enough passion and commitment in football these days and we should cherish it when it occurs.
Please stay Paulo ... and Mr McCrory, please do all you can to encourage him to stay.

From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with Paolo
Shall be my brother; be he ne’er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in Swindon now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs’d they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks

Exactly what healthy debate is all about. For some supposedly intelligent individual to come on here and actively invite fellow posters not to talk to certain persons is so incredibly childish it's beyond belief, infant school mentality, and perhaps they should heed the advice they recently (a couple of days ago not 1957) gave to a respected poster (certainly in my book anyway) which was quote " get a life - saddo" - and all because said respected poster didn't agree with the egotistical view of someone who is best described perhaps as "mr self-importance"

NOTHING
I get all my info from Sam at the adver like the rest of you no one at is saying anything

Dont forget he'd have to " cut his cloth according to his width" -he's currenty not on ny list to boss another prem club - as far as i know of course so I'd reckon he'd settle for a lesser salary recognising he'd dropped a couple of divs.
The challenge for him would then be to get promotion to restore his marketability as a quality manager.
I reckon we'll know by the end of the week-end as to what Paolo will do.- Will Pools game be his swansong giving him the chance to say Adios to the faithful at the CG -will the new regime be able to provide him with the assurances he needs to be able to say he will continue to manage Town -lets hope the latter prevails. Just my thoughts!

My comments will often also be considered by some here in the same vein - but there is only one of me whereas IMO stfc2012 and Jockster may be the same individual?
It's just the pompous and pious remarks about the general intellect of a STFC supporter, who you both often suggest is devoid of an open-mind and ability to accept that there just might be a different point of view - I actually agree with both of you on some points you make but actually find your dismissive and cutting responses to many posters (regular or not) quite irritating and unnecessary.
A little respect to a fellow supporter would not go amiss - if you are actually STFC supporters, of course.

Guv may or may not be someone in the know, personally I don't care, he gets about as much right as the dude from the transfer rumours website.
I get told so many rumours from people who work for the club, but the truth is they are just that because nobody knows jack...
All I know is that we should be doing everything possible to keep PDC, he has bought the life back to our club, I will be in the TE on Saturday singing my lungs out, if we can make the amount of noise that the few who went to Colchester did then It will be an amazing atmosphere.
Cant wait for Saturday and in these uncertain times the players have to keep going, paolo has to keep going whilst he is our manager, so thats what we should all do and whatever happens, well we cant influence it so lets not worry, after all we only lost one player, with a possible three coming in and we are third in the league, just dont want bournemouth in the playoff final, cause you know what will happen then.....

Guv has gone quiet all of a sudden.
Explain someone..........Who is Mike Newell? Never heard of him before, or have I missed something!
His management profile is a bit of a mixture, probably more success than not, he is probably best remembered in management when he spoke out about corruption in the game, (bribes and agents), he was also labeled a sexist when he criticised a woman lineslady.
All in all, I do not understand all the bad comments about him from some of the posters on here, I don't want Paolo to leave, but if he decides sometime in the future because he wants to move on to bigger clubs, I don't see a problem why MN should not be considered for the management job if and when it becomes available, Nobody can replace Paolo, we all know that, but personally I always thought MN had potential and took a hit within the game for being too outspoken of issues within the game that others turned a blind eye to, I think he is an honest decent person and doesn't deserve some of the diatribe I've read on the forum today, unless of course those against him know something I don't and have something constructive to say why they think he should not be considered for any management position that may become available.Think Ian Holloway had to put up with the same sort of crap and he's proved a few wrong.
I want Paolo to stay, but if he decides to walk and Jed brings in MN, he will get my support as will any other manager appointed. Seems like some that do not have any investment in the club think their opinion is more important than the guys that have actually put money into the club. Put up or shut up would be my message to them. We will soon have new board and they will be running the club.

I will happily sell you a Multiple Posters Detection Kit, with a guarantee until the end of the season.
My price is only £199 delivered and if you fail to catch 10 multiple posters between now and the end of the season, you get a 100% refund!!

As to your pompous and pious remarks well maybe both 2012 and myself feel that we both had cause to respond to remarks from a fellow poster that we found pompous and pious to use your turn of phrase. I can't speak for 2012 but I'm always willing to show respect to all STFC supporters provided they exude the same virtues. Unfortunately extending that respect to someone who responds to a fellow poster by using such phrases as "get a life saddo" is just a tad too much I'm afraid. In my book respect has to be earned and you don't do that by slagging off somebody just because they have a differing viewpoint to your own.
As to whether I'm a Town supporter I won't roll out the" I've been watching Town since... Etc " but this season I've seen most home games and been to Stoke, Pompey, Bournemouth, Walsall, & Orient so that should give you a pretty good clue as to where my allegiance lies.

old town robin wrote:OTR, those words are very much appreciated - but completely unnecessary! It was just a strong exchange of views. I didn't think any more of it, and I'm a little concerned that it's troubled you. Hope Wiz is OK. He seems to have been quiet for the last couple of days, although I could be wrong as I've not read through all the posts.
Oi Den! wrote:Den, just want to appologise to you for going a bit OTT on Saturday responding to the Wiz comment regards to teams that cannot afford or care about maintaining a decent playing surface. I still think he has a valid point, but I also know I was out of order with comments I made. Too many sherberts on the day I'm afraid and got a bit carried away with my thoughts. Always tell myself not to comment when I've had one too many as my good wife tells me I usually spout crap.
It's common knowledge that the tabloids make things up just for the fun of it. Best ignored.
So sorry mate if I was out of order, I'll tell the missus to lock me or the laptop away.
Take care, OTR

Hey JB how be thee? About time we had more of your ascerbic wit my friend. This forum is crying out for some light relief given all the doom & gloom - from the artist formerly known as Prince lol - and a couple of others- I might use Blakey next but that won't mean that "I'll hate you Butler" lol
And Hartleypoole don't score, like they both did last weekend!!
