Goatacre expect to do without Liam Dawson

GOATACRE do not expect to be able to call on Liam Dawson in 2013, as the all-rounder steadily becomes a first-team fixture at Hampshire.

The right-hander played an important role as his county side won the Twenty20 Cup last year and hit one hundred and two fifties in the County Championship, as well as taking 10 wickets across all formats with his slow left armers.

In past years Dawson has been able to play one or two matches over the course of the campaign for his village club, but over the coming months Goatacre are bracing themselves for life without him.

“We’re resigned to being without Liam,” said opening bowler Craig Gibbens. “He’s more or less nailed on to play in all three formats and therefore he’s unlikely to be available. The one really good thing about Liam is you know that if he can play, he will. That’s good for us to know.

“I know Liam will if he can. Obviously his success is fantastic but it limits the opportunities he has to play for us. I know he will if he can.”
