SWINDON Town’s prospective new owners will meet with the Football League tomorrow as the sale of the club reaches its conclusion, the Advertiser understands.

Jed McCrory’s consortium is still awaiting official approval before they can take charge at the County Ground.

The League want to be talked through the incoming board’s financial model for the club for the next three years, while McCrory himself is in the process of applying for special dispensation from the relevant authorities so that he can hold positions at both Swindon and Banbury United until the end of the campaign.

The prospective new directors are understood to have passed their fit and proper persons tests and McCrory & Co could get their purchase rubberstamped later this week following discussions with the Football League, which are expected to take place in Preston.

The Adver has learnt that joining McCrory on the new board of directors will be Martin King, Gary Hooper and Steve Murrall.

King is a former director at Luton Town, who resigned his post at the Hatters in the immediate aftermath of Mike Newell’s controversial sacking in 2007. He is also the founder of corporate entertainment booking agency Eminence.

Murrall, like McCrory, has held a directorship at Milton Keynes-based marketing solutions firm Orcidium (UK) Ltd and has experience within the pharmaceutical industry. His primary skills are believed to be operations and structure management.

Hooper is a former professional footballer and has held commercial manager positions at several clubs up and down the Football League. He has 40 years of experience within the game including posts at Brentford and QPR.

Meanwhile, Charlton manager Chris Powell says no official approach has been made for Danny Green or Bradley Wright-Phillips since the emergency loan window opened on Friday.

When asked if Green and Wright-Phillips could still complete switches to Swindon, he said: “It depends on the situation.

“There are a lot of factors to consider with loan moves or permanent moves but as far as I’m aware if they are here and they are fit, they will be up for selection to be in the squad and be in the team.”
