NORTH Wilts returned to action after a series of postponements but their visit to Melksham ended in disappointing fashion.

The away side ended up on the end of a 3-0 defeat in Wessex Division 1.

Melksham dominated possession from the start and one-touch passing allowed them to bag the opening goal.

North Wilts threatened fleetingly on the break and Nicole Dhillion and Maddie Wojtowicz combined to force a short corner.

Tasha Cremin went close with a brilliant strike and Dani Hopping tried to find Georgie Foster with the rebound, but Melksham cleared the ball.

Despite excellent saves by Hannah Sherratt, the home side got another goal to take a 2-0 lead at half-time.

After the break the Melksham short corners kept coming and North Wilts’ lack of game time was showing, with the hosts adding another goal to their tally.

Swindon had no game in Premier Division 2A while Wootton Bassett did not play in North Division.

North Wilts 2nds were sunk 3-1 by hosts Badminton in Berkeley Division 3.

The away side proved stubborn from the start and solid defence from Elspeth Emmerson, Alex Fraser, Anya Momi and sweeper Sian Fletcher saw the teams go in at 0-0 at half-time.

Despite a superb effort from Meg Emms in goal, North Wilts conceded three times in the second half.

That came despite Emms saving a penalty flick, but North Wilts were able to salvage a consolation goal for themselves.
