WALCOT ABC have a trio of young stars contesting the national schools semi-finals in Portsmouth this Sunday.

Fourteen-year-olds Said Eltuyev, Jimmy McDonagh and Kieran O’Donoghue must beat top opposition from the Home Counties if they are to progress to the national final.

Last season’s champion Eltuyev faces two-time national champion Francie Doherty (Hoddesdon ABC) in a class three (46kg) match.

At class three (44kg) Jimmy McDonagh will face Noah Stanley, also from Hoddesdon.

Completing the trio for the Swindon gym is Kieran O’Donoghue, who meets the stylish Michael Price from Pinewood Star ABC.

The Dorcan schoolboy competes in the class three (48kg) category against a talented boxer who lost narrowly in last season’s national final.

Chief coach Harry Scott said: “All three of my lads are fighting fit and ready to go. They all face top opposition on Sunday, but we hope they will do well.

“They know they’re just one win away from a national final, and all three will give their upmost to win.”

The action starts at 1pm on Sunday at the Charles Dickens Centre in Portsmouth. All supporters are welcome.
