YOUNG Australian Nick Morris is the latest Elite League title winning rider to be confirmed for the Bob Kilby Memorial Meeting on March 14.

The season-opening event will not only remember the career life of one of the Robins’ all-time great riders, but will also see the majority of the 2012 league-winning team return to Blunsdon for a night of celebration.

Morris proved an integral part of the title-winning team as he put close to half a point on his average during a decent season, which was his first full year in the top flight of British racing.

The teenager also won the Premier League with Scunthorpe in 2012, and believes the Kilby meeting will prove vital in his preparations for the new season now he has returned to Europe.

“I am looking forward to being back on the bike, and it should be a great way to start the season,” he said.

“It’s a great field with some Grand Prix riders in it as well as some other big names, so it will be a good test for me. A lot of the riders who won the league last year will be there, so it will be good to be able to celebrate at Swindon with the fans.”

Morris joins a line-up already including three-time world champion Nicki Pedersen, title winning Robins Hans Andersen, Jason Doyle and Troy Batchelor, former Swindon riders Mads Korneliussen and Grzegorz Zengota, and Eastbourne’s Bjarne Pedersen.

Further riders are set to be announced in the coming days.
