DISTRICT LEAGUE: Frat pack crush Village boys
6:00am Tuesday 26th February 2013 in Sport
FRATELLOS set up an Adver Cup semi-final with Village Inn after crushing Fox & Hound 5-0 in a replay.
Last weekend’s clash ended 3-3 but this time it was a vastly different story.
Fox missed several chances early on before Aaron Webb put Fratellos ahead just before the break.
The frustration of Fox grew as they had opportunities to level following the resumption, but Fratellos then stormed out of sight, Goals from veteran striker Dave Slattery, Ricky Flanagan, Fraser Joyce and former Fairford front man Charlie Grabe sealed the victory.
Village Inn booked their passage to the semis with a 3-1 win over Queensfield.
Down 1-0 to a goal from the penalty spot in the first half, Village rallied and efforts from Craig Alexander (2) and Andi Drinkwater gave them the victory.
AFC Globe will face bye kings Old Town in the last four after overcoming Bassett Bulldogs 5-2 at Beversbrook.
Colin Cochrane put Bassett in front following a mistake by the keeper but James Williams equalised soon after and an own goal saw Globe forge ahead.
Chris Adams nodded in a corner, with the last touch coming off his nose, but a long-range free kick from Cochrane pulled it back to 3-2.
However, straight from the restart Nigel Baker restored the two-goal cushion before Ash Piotrowski completed the scoring with a magnificent solo effort, chipping over the defender before smashing the ball home.
In the Premier Division, Swiss Chalet beat Auto Engine Tune 3-2.
Daryl Herring crashed home to give Chalet the lead before Auto equalised with their first meaningful attack.
Herring struck again with 16 minutes left and although Auto levelled once more, Pete Wyatt stroked home in the dying minutes to win it for Chalet.
Wayne Presley hit a hat-trick as DJC Marlborough thrashed Lower Stratton 6-2.
Also on the scoresheet were Anthony Duckett (2) and Richard Jackson.
In Division One, Chiseldon and Ferndale WMC shared an incredible 6-6 draw.
Daniel Vaughan bagged a treble for Chiseldon with his teammates Stuart Cody (2) and Nick Salter also registering.
On the scoresheet for Ferndale were Dwaine Dobson (2), Daniel Knight, Jamie Watts, Liam Ballard and Kray Dunn.
Swindon Spitfires cruised to a 5-1 win over Tap & Barrel.
Luke Burroughs, Ritchie Titcombe and Pete Byrne put Spitfires 3-0 up at the break. Phil Legace hit a double in the second half and a Tap goal was too little, too late.
