SUNDAY LEAGUE: Wheatsheaf drop points
6:00am Tuesday 5th March 2013 in Sport
WHEATSHEAF dropped their first points of the Swindon Sunday League Division Three season as they drew 2-2 with Tap & Barrel.
Tap took the lead through a Danny Broadbank screamer but Wheatsheaf equalised within a minute thanks to a header at the back post.
In the second half Tap keeper Luke Browne was beaten by the opposition’s striker, but his side later won a penalty when Phil Scarisbrick was fouled.
Pete Ockwell smashed the spot kick into the top corner and Wheatsheaf eventually finished the game with 10 men when they had a midfielder sent off.
In Division Six, depleted Greendown fielded a backline with a total age of 174 against Nationwide.
Nationwide had a man sent off for dissent early on but still took the lead on the half hour mark.
They doubled the advantage in controversial fashion following the resumption after it appeared the goalkeeper was fouled.
In Division Six, Soca Juniors beat Stratton Saints 5-3 in spite of Jamie Saunders’ hat-trick for Stratton.
