Boss waits on injury concerns

Town boss Kevin MacDonald Town boss Kevin MacDonald

SWINDON Town have injury doubts over Simon Ferry and Tommy Miller ahead of this Saturday’s home clash with Notts County.

The duo have both been affected by hamstring and calf problems respectively.

Town boss Kevin MacDonald said: “Simon was a lot better yesterday. We’ll see how he is today.

“It was a tight hamstring and we’re hopeful it’s not a tear because if it was a tear he’d be out for a couple of weeks. As long as he can train tomorrow, that will be the important thing.

“Tommy Miller has still got an ongoing from that kick he had last week on the calf.”

Also missing are Miles Storey (hamstring), Troy Archibald-Henville (knee) and Aaron Oakley (foot).

Louis Thompson is expected to return from Wales Under-21 duty.

All mid-field players injuries, think most fans would be most concerned with the doubt of Simon. Navarro has hardly featured since the turn of the year and Miller is struggling to complete 90 minutes, think Roberts mentioned a few weeks ago he likes playing in the middle, not sure if that would work, but it would allow De Vita or Luke Rooney a start. Think Williams will revert to go back up front with a 4-4-2, If Simon makes and miller doesn't, a mid-field of Roberts, Ferry, Macca & de Vita with Louis on the bench, might be OK.

To be fair I'm not sure Miller would be a great loss, Ferry on the other hand! Louis Thompson could come in? Da Vita needs to improve. Its getting very tight on numbers available and still no news on the embargo, it would be reassuring to hear something? Fingers crossed they are working on resolving it rather than just giving us the usual stuff about being confident that it will be removed today, tomorrow, next week etc.

L. Thompson this your chance. I was impressed against Maclesfield in spite of the own goal.

Here's hoping Simon will be fit, should be centre midfield with Alan Mac & not out wide.

This ruddy embargo is beyond a joke. It must be sorted asap as with the injuries we are getting & possible suspensions we need a few new faces in. Hopefully some strong & experienced players who will not be bullied by the opposition still to play.

With 8 games left, there are some big strong. thuggy teams to play, e.g. Sheff Utd, hard to beat & don't let many goals in (except their match v Stevenage) & Donny who quite often have 9 players over 6ft in their team & more on the bench.

Fantastic result v Yeovil but we've got to get our home form sorted. Must win the Notts Co & Oldham matches before the 3 crucial away games.

Cheers Smirg for the update. Like I said been keeping tabs on the scorelines but thats about it. Reading from pretty much all these weeks forums the embargo does seem a royal **** up but if Jed says it will be sorted before deadline day then I will hold my judgement on him until then.

Devera v Flint. Devera far better ball playing defender (still have a great memory of him making a surging round down the left flank before whipping in a cross mceverly could only dream of for ward to head home) but Flint did an excellent job on tuesday against Madden. Ward seems to combine the ball playing and no nonsense game perfectly atm.

KMac - first impressions boring second impressions more passionate than di canio judging by his performance on the touchline the other night!!

all in all if embargo is sorted and bring in a couple of extra players (especially excited about cebbalos) then future does look v bright!

There...hope im up to date now!!

It seems that the bigger problem potentially is previous employees suing STFC, not the debt from 1957(??).

The club is its own legal entity. If you buy a company you buy any outstanding liabilities with it unless it is covered in the sales agreement. Ie. Black agreeing to write off loads of the money he was owed.

What is more worrying is that despite all the previous embargos they now seem to have found some very historic debt that has to be dealt with. Why has that now raised its head after all this time!!

Agree with the above - all very strange that such an old debt has suddenly surfaced and caused an embargo!
..
Didn't cause an embargo earlier in the season or at the last buy-out or in any of the previous 50yrs....unless it is THEIR OWN debt that they've brought with them but don't believe that either.
.
Don't believe that the potential actions from PDC and his team are a reason either.....just don't believe them full-stop really.

Well,Southampton are premier league and not under the jurisdiction of the muppets at the FL.

However it seems that the FL are dragging up as much as they can and seem to be acting with malicious prejudice towards the Town. Just compare the way we are being dealt with compared to the likes of Portsmouth and Watford.

If we have debts spanning back over 50 years and they have not been handled by previous administrations or just statute (I thought 12 years without being asked for a debt meant it was no longer valid, I could be wrong though !)
surely giving the new board some grace time wouldn't be unreasonable ?

As for we may or may not be subject to legal action, well what about Portsmouth or Birmingham ?

Bring on Saturday when we can get back to thinking about football.

KeithMorganRules says...
5:52pm Thu 21 Mar 13

More questions than answers. A debt over 6 years old is not normally recoverable unless you have admitted in writing that you owe it in the last six years or made a payment in the same time frame. So a 50 year old debt is way out of time. Also, 50 years ago (I was there so I know!) you could buy the entire STFC team for £5,000 and have change!! Or a semi-detached house for £900.

The comment about possible legal action is weird, unless the FL are pre-judging what a court would decide about a case that is not even brought yet!! Unless PdC has already written stating that he will be taking action? Personally I can't see a court giving him any sort of damages for spending so much money that the Board called a halt, whatever his contract stated. also he and his team just walked out and left the club in the lurch, so if anything STFC would be the ones looking for damages.

Nikki Nythe says...
5:57pm Thu 21 Mar 13

How can there be a debt from 50 years ago? When you enter administration all debts are pilled together and a % is paid off, hence when you come out of administration you are free of those repayments.

What a total load of old tosh! As for PDC, you walked mate, you get sod all! You should of let Jed sack you then you could of claimed compensation.

The old board were a total sham really, will we ever get a decent board? One that cares about the club?

How come a 50 yr old debt has come to life? why was this never picked up or mentioned before? It's not April 1st yet is it?

Bloody hell how much can it be? a couple of quid. In 1968 I once found 2 shilling coin on the Stratton Bank, so perhaps i should have handed it in, is this the debt?

The Football League really have it in for us. Sorry to harp on about the financial irregularites in the past, but we were stitched up then whilst Chelsea & Spurs despite being found guilty bought their way out of it.

As for money owed to past employees, if it's PDC & his gang threatening legal action, then shame on them. All the good they did would leave a nasty taste in the mouth. Yes, they might have been annoyed when Matt Richtie was sold, but they resigned. Fact. Heroes to zeroes.

I obviously always want us to do well, but after all this C**p since Christmas, I so much want us to get promoted, we deserve it. The hard work & togetherness of the players & backing from the fans has been incredible. Us going up, I expect the FL will try & scupper this.

PDC did say that the truth would come out and he would see the club in court when he left.
Perhaps claiments are coming forward from years back who were not included in the details of the administratons.
The FL are inviting all to come forward it seems to ensure we have no more hidden debts that could spring up in the future.
They have made it hard for Portsmouth as well a short while ago by refusing a new consortium the chance to make a bid for takeover.
Trouble is we dont really know and at least this statement breaks the silence.
I am going to give Jed and co the benifit of the doubt for the moment because they would be causing themselves one whole load of greif taking over this club, contracting a new manager and signing an agreement with the FL if they just intened to ditch the club, after all its worth nothing without investment!!
