Storms and darkness halt Howell

DAVID Howell’s second round at the Malaysia Open has been cut short by darkness.

The Swindon pro was initially delayed by a second day of thunderstorms at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club, and when he finally got on the course, there was only time to fit five holes in.

Teeing off at the 10th, Howell was one-under when darkness intervened and he is currently sitting in a tie for 20th on four-under overall.

The former world number nine will complete his second round tomorrow and will aim to finish his third as well, subject to making the cut.

Depending on the weather, there is a possibility the tournament could be reduced to 54 holes.
