MICHAEL Cox won Broome Manor’s July monthly medal.

The four-handicapper clinched victory on countback from Jason Beint, who plays off one.

Cox’s gross score of 74 was enough to win Division One while Beint’s round of 71 was the lowest gross score of the day.

Anthony White, who also shot a nett 70, was third while Ray Hughes was fourth with a nett 71.

Winning Division Two was John Burn who carded a gross 75 and nett 65 to clinch victory from Martin Evenett, who was two shots back. Third was Simon Channon and fourth was Sean Ealey.

Hugh Hughes won Division Three with a nett 69, one shot ahead of Alan Brown.

In third place was Pasquale Mazzotta with a nett 73 while fourth was Stephen Brown on countback.

Nine players recorded twos on the day, they were Iain Blood, Colin Harrison, Beint, Paul Turland, Peter J Connelly, Mark Page, Nick Yalden (two), Richard Parmenter.

Meanwhile, Cirencester gained revenge for their defeat at Ross-on-Wye earlier this season as they triumphed 6-2 in the return contest.

The opening pairing of seniors captain David Findlay and vice-captain Clive Bennett prevailed on the final green to win one up.

Club president Robert Evans and Mike Kirman triumphed two up while John Hall and Mike Staples lost on the last hole.

There were wins for Graham Morgan and Alan Smith (two up), John Parsons and John Cross (three and two) and Roy Lipscombe and Mike Brown (four and three).

David Duroe and John Thurston halved their match as did John King and Joe Hickey.
