Relegation looms for Nationwide
6:00am Tuesday 20th August 2013 in Sport
NATIONWIDE House are all but relegated from the West of England Premier League following a rain-affected cancellation on Saturday.
House, 49 points detached at the foot of the Wiltshire Division with just two games remaining, need a miracle finish to the season to avoid the drop back into the county structure.
Rain came after just 12 overs of the clash with Marlborough at the weekend and, despite the game being reduced to 42 overs a side, another disruption in the middle of the afternoon meant the game was called off before 25 overs of the first innings had been bowled.
In the 24.4 overs that did take place, Tom Norris hit a cultured unbeaten 50 from 85 balls, which featured three fours.
Ben Head was more aggressive, spanking seven boundaries in his 33-ball 36 before Nationwide skipper Joe Perkins got him to hit one at Dominic O’Neill.
Zwelibanzi Homani was not out on 20 at the close.
