SWINDON TOWN: UPDATED: Cooper confirms Williams enquiry
4:00pm Thursday 22nd August 2013 in Sport
SWINDON Town manager Mark Cooper has confirmed Yeovil have shown an interest in striker Andy Williams.
It emerged on Wednesday that the Glovers had enquired about the potential availability of the 27-year-old, who only left Huish Park for Wiltshire in the summer of last year, but sources in Somerset suggested Yeovil had made no such approach.
However, Cooper has stated that there has been contact - though he did describe it as “nothing concrete”.
He said: “I’ve heard there is an interest but nothing concrete.
“Things are ongoing. There’s been nothing concrete as I’m aware of Andy going yet. If he does then we’ll have to try to get somebody in sharpish.”
Yeovil boss Gary Johnson remained coy on the subject at his weekly press conference in Somerset.
He said: “We can't enlighten you on anything.
“Andy Williams coming back to Yeovil would be a great situation. Whether that situation ever comes up we don't really know.
“Somebody has obviously put it out their end which is often how it starts. We're not quite sure if that's in Swindon's mind but it's something that would be exciting to get him back to add to the squad.
“But it's nothing we can talk about right at this moment.”
