JOHNNIE WALKER CHAMPIONSHIP: Mixed second round for Broome pro
BROOME Manor pro David Howell experienced a rollercoaster second round at the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles, but still made the cut by a shot.
The Swindon star carded a two-under-par 70 today to move to three-under overall, but that did not tell the story of a round that was up and down throughout.
Teeing off at the 11th, Howell dropped three shots in the first two holes before sinking four birdies on 14,15, 16 and 18.
He then nailed an eagle three at the second before bogey fives at seven and eight set him back a little.
Nonetheless, a birdie at the 10th allowed Howell to finish his round on a positive note.
The former world number nine is tied-58th heading into day three.
