FLYBALL: National crown for Cotswold
COTSWOLD Flyball Club took home a national title as part of a success campaign at the BFA National Championships at Catton Hall in Derbyshire.
The club took five open teams to the championships for the first time in their history, to compete against 300 of the country's top teams for five of the 45 titles on offer.
And Cotswold exceeded their expectations by securing one victory and four third-place finishes.
The team of veteran dogs, The Sundowners, belied their years to dominate Division 44, Moss, Lexie, Kelli, Jack and Hecla used their experience to win all their races and give the club its second national title in as many years.
The top-rated Cyclones - Rocky, Tammi, Poppi and debutant Boo - put in a solid perfomance to win three races out of five and take third in Division 16 on countback.
In Division 32, the Zephyrs grabbed third thanks to victories for Dexter, Fergus, Woody and Eddy against strong opposition.
Typhoons, hastily re-jigged due to illness to one of the original line-up, did a superb job to charge to third in Division 34 as Ceris, Rhona, Rocky Two and Dizzy excelled.
Sciroccos were made up entirely of debutants - Mist, Evie, Elsa, Smartie and Milo - and triumphed in three races in Division 42 to finish third.
