Kildemand misses out on rostrum
12:22pm Sunday 1st September 2013 in Sport
SWINDON’S Peter Kildemand was unfortunate to miss out on a place on the rostrum in the second and final round of this year’s Danish Championship at Holsted.
Kildemand went into the event just one point behind leader Niels-Kristian Iversen, and while the Grand Prix star eventually retained his national title with victory at Holsted the Robins man ended one place shy of the medals.
Despite riding at his least favourite track in his homeland on Friday night the Dane managed to add 10 points to his tally from his five outings, which proved good enough to make the final alongside Iversen, Kenneth Bjerre and Michael Jepsen Jensen.
Despite making a good start from the inside gate the Swindon star was hit by Jepsen Jensen in turn three which saw him lose second place to Bjerre, and unable to run on full power for the rest of the race he was eventually beaten by Jepsen Jensen coming out of the final corner as his chance of a podium place vanished.
Swindon captain Hans Andersen was also competing in Holsted and managed to add nine points to the 10 he picked up in Slangerup to finish fifth in the standings.
