Four new recruits for Okanagan
6:00am Tuesday 3rd September 2013 in Sport
THE Link Centre-based Okanagan Academy have welcomed four players on board for 2013/14 including two new faces.
Forwards Tom Rutkis and Glen Billings are the new players that have come in alongside returning duo Logan Prince and Itsvan Dragomir.
Rutkis, who hails from Latvia, has been a prolific scorer at Guildford while Billing was part of the junior setup at Romford.
Michael Stratford - who has featured for Swindon Wildcats - and Luc Johnson have previously been unveiled by Okanagan for the upcoming season.
Okanagan head coach Peter Russell said: “I'm delighted to have Logan and Isti returning to the programme for the coming season and to add Tom and Glen to our group is the icing on the cake.
“Both Glen and Tom have trained with our group before and they are lovely lads with a great work ethic and they both have a desire to progress themselves further.
“I am really looking forward to working with our boys this year and watching them develop further again.
“I have stated before that this is the best programme in the UK to develop within and is the best environment to achieve full potential on and off the ice.
“We have some very talented 12 to 16-year-olds in the programme now and that is a fantastic base to build from. The future is bright.
“We will be developing each player's skills, game understanding and strength and conditioning.
“It is very mixed group in terms of ages but a very exciting one and I can't wait to see where they all are in May next year.”
