O'Driscoll praises his beaten City side
BRISTOL City manager Sean O’Driscoll was pleased with his side’s display despite the 3-2 defeat to Swindon Town on Saturday.
Goals from Aden Flint and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas weren’t enough to earn City anything from the game, as Nicky Ajose struck twice for Town before Nile Ranger blasted home a late winner for the hosts.
O’Driscoll’s team have not registered a league win since March but he remained optimistic post-match.
“I thought the performance was excellent,” he said.
“We had enough chances, in the second half especially, to actually come out on top. They’re a fluid team and they had 23 shots away at Wolves last week, so we half-expected them to be better going forward than they are defending.
“Our challenge was to get the balance right. Wolves left two strikers up but got pulverised in midfield, so we did the same in leaving two strikers up but changed the shape in midfield, which worked really well. We got our noses in front a couple of times but you’ve got to give them credit because they always believe they’re going to score.
“We defended really well at times, but a mistake from a throw and then the second phase of a corner have cost us – they haven’t come from free-flowing football.”
