6:00am Tuesday 24th September 2013 in Sport
SWINDON Spitfires Under 12s made a successful debut in the Oxford League with an 11-0 win at Thame.
Spits scored three times in the first 10 minutes through Morgan-Ly Culley, Rebecca Chitolie and an own goal.
Goal number four arrived after a lovely floated pass from Shannon King was volleyed home by Chitolie.
Cully then scored her second and King scored her first to make it 6-0.
King then scored from a free-kick to make it 7–0 at half-time before adding another after the break.
Prinzi headed in number nine and got her second shortly after to make it 10–0.
Chitolie rounded off the scoring from King’s quick throw.
In the Wiltshire Girls League, Spitfires Under 13s conceded first before going on to win 9-2 against visiting Sarum Youth. On target for Spitfires were Tamzin Davis (3), Gipsy Viveash (4) and Ashleigh Warwick (2).
The under 12s development team put in a good performance before succumbing 4-2 to Melksham United.
Melksham took the lead with a long distance shot which took an unfortunate bounce past keeper Kimberley Jackson.
Following the goal Spits piled on the pressure and just before half-time Shannon Whitley broke through midfield to score.
At the start of the second half Georgia Gillie took over in goal and made numerous good saves to halt Melksham attacks.
Six minutes into the second half Jackson worked her way into the area and calmly finished with great composure.
Following Jackson’s goal Spits had a large amount of the possession without success and eventually Melksham came back to score three unanswered goals.
