SWINDON & DISTRICT LEAGUE: Hawkins fires four for Fratellos
6:00am Tuesday 24th September 2013 in Sport
KENNY Hawkins struck four times as Fratellos made it two wins from two in the Premier Division with a 5-0 victory over DJC Marlborough.
The striker was the star of the show in the big home win, in which Aaron Webb was also on target, which leaves Fratellos a point behind leaders Spectrum who have played a game more.
Spectrum’s 0-0 draw with Swiss Chalet Rangers was the first time they have dropped points this season, as keeper James Foye kept them in the contest, which also allowed Old Town United to move to within a point of top spot after their 4-1 victory over bottom side Kingsdown United.
Chris Wood was quick out of the blocks to give his side the lead after only 22 seconds in a game they would go on to dominate, and although Chris Sloley grabbed one back with a stunning free-kick goals from Steve Nesbitt and Shane Dodson and another from Wood secured the win for Old Town.
Arron Wellerd also scored four as Queensfield beat Sportz Central 7-2, while Steve Winchcombe and Adam Giles were on target as Village Inn beat AFC Globe.
In Division One, Pete Byrne was the standout performer as his five goals led Swindon Spitfires to an 11-2 victory over Core Construction. Liam Kearns grabbed a brace while Sean Light, Thomas Watson, Phil Legace and George Skinner were also on target for Spitfires.
Redhouse and Ramsbury shared six goals in a thrilling 3-3 draw, while two for Chris Edwards and one each for Colin Cochrane and Mark Adam allowed Bassett Bulldogs to beat Larry’s Plaice 4-3 in a very close game.
