SWINDON TOWN: Don't expect any favours from Wes
WES Foderingham will be looking to send his friends home disappointed when he takes his place in goal against Chelsea tonight.
The stopper, who grew up in west London just a stone’s through from the Blues’ local rivals QPR’s home ground, can count a number of fans of the Premier League side amongst his nearest and dearest.
A Newcastle fan himself, Foderingham has no sentiment attached to Jose Mourinho’s outfit nor on this occasion it seems does he care too much about his mates.
“A lot of my friends are Chelsea fans as well, so that adds a bit to it,” he told the Advertiser.
“Personally I’m not a Chelsea fan and I’ve never really followed Chelsea, but it will be good to play against a Premier League side.
“A few of them are giving me stick but their results haven’t been going too well recently so I think we’ll stand a good chance.”
While Chelsea’s superstar squad may have been assembled for hundreds of millions of pounds, Foderingham is convinced Town have the ability and wherewithal to cause their guests problems this evening.
“It’s a one-off game against Chelsea, it’s going to be a difficult game and we know that.
“It’s definitely good to go into the game with the confidence after a win,” he said.
“I don’t think we’ll go mad. Everyone is looking forward to the occasion of playing against Chelsea because many of us don’t know if we’re going to get that chance again.
“We’re going to look and see where we can pick at their team. Even though they’re a top European side I’m sure they’ve got weaknesses and we’ll try to expose them and try to play like any other game.”
