SWINDON TOWN: Wes & Co hold heads up high
KEEPER Wes Foderingham was proud Town were not disgraced by Premier League giants Chelsea but admitted the all-round quality of Jose Mourinho’s side was simply too much for them.
The Stamford Bridge club fielded a team worth more than £150million, with striker Fernando Torres and rampant midfielder Ramires finding the net in the Blues 2-0 victory.
Foderingham was pleased with what the League One side managed to produce but admitted Chelsea were simply too good.
“I had a lot to do in the game, and even though it was against Chelsea we’ve come away with a defeat which I’m not too happy about,” he said.
“I tried to do my best but credit to Ramires it’s a great finish and he’s just about chipped it in between the post and the bar.
“We kept the ball well and didn’t change the way we play but didn’t have the attacking threat, and that’s to be expected against one of the best teams in Europe.
“We’ve lost 2-0, but that’s certainly not a disgrace.
“They are all round better athletes and have better quality than League One, and when they see gaps in the defence they will find the right pass nine times out of 10.”
