SWINDON Harriers star Ciaran Cooper has been in record-breaking form of late, smashing two club bests over the past fortnight.
Cooper had raced to victory in the 300m at the Oxford City AC Open graded meeting in a blistering 37.35secs on Wednesday, September 11 and, competing in the under 17 category at the Harriers’ Autumn Club Championships a week later, posted a time of 4:39.04 in the mile to take the title and post another new record.
Other Harriers crowned autumn club champions recently were Aaron Bishop, Mike Jack Fawcett, Lewis Hinds, Daniel Young, Gamuchirai Dumbutsheria, Sam Cashmore, Will Crisp, Owen Squire, Morgan Gascoigne, Abbi Chaundy and Maiya Todd.
Of those there were personal bests for Young in the under 17 300m, Hinds in both the under 17 100m and 200m, Squire in the under 13 100m, 200m and 300m and Dumbutsheira in the under 15 100m.
Meanwhile, club road running coach Mike Affleck travelled to the south coast to run the New Forest Marathon on Sunday, September 22.
Affleck completed the race in 4:04:39 to come fifth in the male over 60s and male over 65s combined class. He finished 201st of the 506 finishers.
At the Swindon Parkrun on Saturday, September 21, Harriers Matt Raymond and Barrie Brown won their respective age groups.
In the under 17s, Ryamond improved his personal best to finish in 18:16, one place ahead of clubmate Tom Hunton, who also ran a PB. Brown took the over 35s crown and 13th place overall in a time of 19:22.
Other Swindon Harriers to finish the Lydiard Park event included Ollie Cooke, Isaac McAdam, Ashley Fox, Clare Baden and Alex Griffin.
Way back at the beginning of the month, three Harriers took part in the inaugural Melksham 10k road race.
Tom Hemming came 10th with a personal best 35:54, Martin Bridgeman was 29th with a PB of 40:41 and Tom Hunton came 69th.
