ROSS Townsend took just 30 seconds to find the net as Spectrum overcame Sportz Central 3-1 in the Swindon & District League Premier Division.
Townsend set the visitors on their way to a fine victory on the road, with Andy Marriott and Eddie Alsop also getting on the scoresheet for Spectrum. Sportz Central’s consolation goal came courtesy of Jose Rodrigues.
There were 12 goals in the game between Fox & Hound and Old Town United, as the away side ended up winning 7-5. Shane Dodson, Jamie Hicks and Steve Leighfield all registered braces for Old Town, while Dean Daville also found the net. Andy Styles hit a hat-trick and Zach Ockwell scored twice for Fox & Hound.
Kingsdown threw away a two-goal lead to slip to a 4-2 home defeat to AFC Globe. Chris Quinton and Cam Hayes had put the hosts in dreamland inside the first 15 minutes but goals from Liam Preedy, James Williams, Rob Metcalfe and Adam Perugino condemned the strugglers to another loss.
Elsewhere in the division, Fratellos edged past fellow title contenders Queensfield 2-1, with Aaron Wellend scoring in vain for Queenie. In Division One, the two sides with 100 per cent records met, with Lower Stratton outplaying Swindon Spitfires to win 5-2.
Stratton were three goals to the good at half-time and Spitfires couldn’t force themselves back into the game.
Carl Wyatt and Adam Wilkins both registered twice for Stratton and James Saunders rounded off the scoring for the home side.
Larry’s Plaice lost a nine-goal thriller 5-4 to Redhouse. Steve Nicholls got two for Redhouse, who also had Paul Stevens, Steven Martin and Chris Ullah on the scoresheet.
Finally, Ramsbury battered Bassett Bulldogs 5-1. Chris Edwards’ goal for the visitors was scant consolation.
