RALLYING: Second in class for Taunt and Murphy
6:00am Thursday 17th October 2013 in Sport
HIGHWORTH rally driver Shelly Taunt successfully finished the Trackrod Rally in 17th overall and second in her class.
Taunt fared well at the North Yorkshire event, having not taken part in competitive racing alongside co-driver Julie Murphy for more than 10 months.
The pair battled to an impressive final position against opponents from the British Championship and BTRDA Championship, with Taunt saying: “Despite years of competing I still get quite nervous before an event and sometimes this can show on my result.
“It took a couple of stages to settle in and to get the feel of the car and how it handles on the gravel surface, but as we continued throughout the day we picked up the pace and with no major dramas surprisingly we walked away with second in class.”
The duo’s next event is the Rallye Sunseeker this weekend, which takes place in Dorset and Hampshire.
