Swindon's Young set for international title fight
SWINDON boxer Kelvin Young has vacated his Southern Area title in order to focus on "a massive fight and bigger title" in December.
The super-middleweight was due to defend his title against Frank Buglioni on November 30 in London but will now fight on his promoter Keith Mayo’s show in Swindon on December 7.
Young confirmed he has vacated his Southern Area title on his facebook page, saying: “I’m not fighting Frank Buglioni now and I have vacated my Southern Area title in favour of a massive fight and bigger title.”
The ex-Penhill amateur also confirmed the fight would take his career to the next level and described the bout as “the biggest fight ever staged in Swindon”
Promoter Keith Mayo refused to confirm which title Young would fight for until contracts were signed but told the Swindon Advertiser: “It was a big decision to vacate and not fight Frank Buglioni but when an opportunity like this comes along then you cannot refuse it.
“Talks are ongoing but all I can tell you right now is that Kelvin will fight an international opponent for a title.”
