DARTS: Swindon four all cash in Ireland
ALL four Swindon players picked up money in Ireland over the weekend in the two Players Championship events played in the Emerald Isle.
Dennis Smith was the biggest winner as he earned £750 over the two days with £500 coming on Saturday as he beat Sam Hill and Connie Finnan to reach round three before eventually losing 6-2 to Darren Webster.
The PDC stalwart is almost certain to appear in the World Championship in December after an impressive season, and added another £250 yesterday with a round one win over Steve Grubb before Finnan took revenge to win 6-4 in round two.
Mark Cox was the only other Swindon player to pick up money on day one at the Gleneagle Hotel as he enjoyed an impressive 6-3 win over Steve Brown before losing to Joe Cullen to take £250, while Johnny Haines and Chris Aubrey left day one empty handed following preliminary round defeats to Michael Mansell and Barrie Bates.
The pair enjoyed a better day yesterday as they both put two wins together to reach round three, where Haines lost to Steve Beaton and Aubrey fell at to Mark Webster as the duo picked up £250.
Cox lost in the preliminary round to Ian Moss yesterday as he failed to register anything towards the order of merit.
