Danish duo eye Robins return
DANISH duo Hans Andersen and Peter Kildemand both have their hearts set on a return to Swindon Robins next season - as long as the rules allow.
The pair have spent the last two seasons at Blunsdon, helping to bring an end to the club’s 45 year wait for a top class title in their first year before just missing out in the play-off semi-finals last season.
Speedway bosses converge today for their pre-AGM meeting in Rugby, where the sport’s rules for next season will begin to be drawn up, with big changes expected this winter.
Andersen has ridden in Britain for the majority of his career and wants to be given the chance to carry on doing so, ideally with the Robins.
“I love riding in England and it would be a shame if they made rules which meant the top riders can’t ride, so hopefully that can carry on,” he said.
“I’m pretty happy and settled with mechanics at Swindon and I love the fans and the track is really good so it would be great if I can come back to Swindon,” he said.
“I had a good year although I missed a few meetings, and it looks like there is going to be a bright future at Swindon.
“I would love to be a part of that because it’s a great place so hopefully I can come back.”
Like his captain, Kildemand believes changes in the sport’s rules could be the biggest hurdle for his return to Swindon but the Dane would love nothing more than a third year Blunsdon.
“It depends on the rules again and we will have to wait for that but I like England and Britain and hopefully I can ride here again,” he said.
“I like Swindon, so why not here again? I like the club and I like the track so it makes sense to come back and I hope I can.
“The teams are really professional and everything else goes well but if they can get the tracks prepared it would good.”
