CHAMPIONSHIP new boys Bournemouth are weighing up a January move for Swindon Town goalkeeper Wes Foderingham.

The Advertiser understands the Cherries are ready to enquire about the 22-year-old’s availability when the transfer window opens in the new year, and manager Eddie Howe has already visited the County Ground twice to see Foderingham in action.

Though on the second occasion, the visit of Wycombe in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy last week, Town’s number one was ruled out through injury, Howe also watched the 3-1 home defeat to Walsall - during which Foderingham made a number of impressive saves.

Swindon would not encourage approaches for one of their prized assets, who signed a new contract at the club in the summer, but that may not stop Bournemouth making an offer.

The Cherries have already fielded four keepers this season, with Lee Camp - on loan from West Brom - the current incumbent.

Town are understood to have turned down a tentative approach from Brentford for Foderingham’s services in the summer.

The former Crystal Palace man is one of hottest goalkeeping properties in the lower leagues, having kept 50 clean sheets in 115 appearances for the Robins since arriving in Wiltshire on an initial loan deal in October 2011.

Foderingham has recently returned to competitive action after a back injury.
