Cooper nominated for manager of the month award

Swindon Advertiser: Mark Cooper Mark Cooper

SWINDON Town’s Mark Cooper has been nominated for the League One manager of the month award for November.

Cooper’s Robins scored 11 goals in five games over the course of the month, picking up 10 points in the process, as victories over Port Vale, Colchester and Carlisle helped Town into seventh place in the league table.

The Swindon boss is up against stiff competition from Uwe Rosler of Brentford, Simon Grayson of Preston and Rotherham’s Steve Evans for the prize.

Rosler’s Bees have taken 13 points out of a possible 15, Rotherham have won three matches by a three-goal margin during their unbeaten month and Preston have forced themselves into automatic promotion contention.

The winner of the gong will be decided by a voting panel consisting of former Charlton Athletic manager Alan Curbishley, Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman, Football League chief operating officer Andy Williamson; League Managers’ Association director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet head of football Paul Wiggins.

Well done Mark. Now all you need is a vote of confidence from the new board and you'll be on your way!

- Totally agree, Mike. Seems strange to be reading about football on here this morning! I tried logging in a few times last night just to check to see if anything had happened since Jed resigned, and it seems the Adver site had melted with everyone logging on at once. Obviously we will never know the full story but it certainly seems to be a quicker and less bitter changeover at the County Ground than we've witnessed in recent years. It doesn't seem too long ago that people were gathering outside the ground around this time of year to see for themselves if Andrew Fitton would be able to oust Diamond Mike. Happy Days Ahead!

A very good effort by Mark, Luke and the lads. All in all, STFC are performing above the expectations of many people. And gaining 10 points this month in spite of what must be a difficult atmosphere around the board room of late.

I don't think Mark will get the accolade this month, that will go to Rosler. In a way that will be better for all. Usually winning this thing is the kiss of death for the coming period.

Cooperman deserves the nomination but as others say Rosler has to be favourite and in any case it hardly matters whether he wins it or not.

Pleased to see Cooper recognised as he seems to have great integrity and a positive outlook. He has been a much better manager than I anticipated and his comments are always well balanced win or lose. He comes across as a great professional and I think does a great job with the resources and constraints that he has got. He won't win it - I think Rebel-Fish has the right of it - but being nominated should be a confidence booster for him.

I think Tim Sherwood is on a very high salary at Spurs, I doubt very much he would take a cut to take on a role here. But I do hope his association with Lee Power continues because as a whole apart from the one sent back (Parfitt was it), they have all done reasonably well, (even Hall is improving)..
