SWINDON Town warmed up for their Johnstone’s Paint Trophy area semi-final clash with Stevenage by becoming the latest League One club to take on the Paint Pot Challenge.
The Robins braved very strong winds to take on a test of accuracy, which is run in conjunction with the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.
Ten players from the Swindon squad attempted to chip the ball from the angle of the penalty area into a giant inflatable paint pot on the six-yard line.
The squad members were joined by 30-year-old Swindon fan Neil Squibb, who won the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy’s 11th man competition, giving one lucky supporter a chance to join their heroes for the challenge.
Ten points are awarded for a successful chip-on, with one point accumulated each time the paint pot is struck.
Midfielder Alex Pritchard proved Swindon’s star performer, chipping the ball in to earn his side 10 points.
Mohammed El Gabas, Yaser Kasim and Ryan Mason all struck the paint pot to give the Wiltshire club a total of 13 points, three short of current leaders Fleetwood Town.
“With our Johnstone’s Paint Trophy game against Stevenage coming up, we were delighted to take part in the Johnstone’s Paint Pot Challenge,” said Swindon manager Mark Cooper.
“The conditions weren’t ideal with the wind but the players enjoyed it and acquitted themselves well.”
