MARK Cooper feels it would be “natural and normal” for Swindon Town to receive approaches for their talented young players in January.

Director of football Lee Power has said he expects clubs to coming knocking on his door for Massimo Luongo when the January transfer window opens, but Cooper suggested that the Australian may not be the only member of his squad attracting attention from elsewhere.

Therefore, the Town boss is preparing himself for plenty of inquiries for some of his most prized assets in the new year.

“If Massimo plays to the level he has been then of course that’s going to happen - that’s natural and normal because he’s produced a string of performances that are of a very high standard - as have a lot of the other boys,” he said.

“He’s been very consistent of late and I would think Lee’s not far off with that statement and he will have people come in for him. I would think, with the way they’re playing, clubs will be interested in quite a few of them.”

Four months into his tenure as Swindon manager, Cooper is starting to feel as though his youthful squad is understanding the task at hand.

“They’re starting to realise what being at a League One club is like and playing in senior football and an understanding that we have to have a way of playing and we want to excite people, but we also have to get results,” he said.

“The tricky part has been trying to tie it all together to make sure we play how we want to and give ourselves a chance of getting a result - I think we’re slowly coming to terms with that.”
