DAVE Turner expects to field close to a full strength Shrivenham side tonight for their Floodlit Cup third round clash with Tuffley.

The Barrington Park boss began his cup campaign playing a development side, but as the rounds went on and his squad players struggled to be available his side has transformed into the club’s first team.

Now Turner is taking the competition seriously and wants to progress as far as possible as he looks to transfer his side’s cup form into the league.

“I played what I Iike to call a ‘development’ team in the first game and then anyone from that team who was available played in the second round, but for various reasons we only have one or two of the original cup team left now,” he said. “We want to try and win every game we play because we’re running out of cups and the league’s tough, but the reason our performances have picked up in the league is because we have been winning games in the cup.”

Elsewhere tonight, New College are in Division One West action away at Lydney.

Last night Fairford won 9-1 against Hinksey in the Floodlit Cup.

Cameron McLarty hit a first-half hat-trick to give Fairford a 3-1 lead at the break. McLarty added another in the second half and was joined on the scoreboard by Nathan Gambling (2), Matt Boucher, Callum Parsons and Dom Phipps.

Highworth’s clash at Wantage in the same competition was called off.
