SWINDON Town still have a good chance of making the League One play-offs in 2014, according to goalkeeper Wes Foderingham.

The Robins will start the new year four points outside the top six after accruing 34 from their opening 23 games of the campaign - just five points less than their total at the same stage of last season.

Having played all bar Leyton Orient of the clubs currently occupying the top six places in the division away from home, Foderingham feels Town have given themselves the perfect platform from which to launch an all-out assault on promotion.

“We’ve got to keep doing the business on a Saturday and if we keep winning our home games and try to do a bit better away from home we should definitely be in the mix,” he said.

“I think it’s a massive achievement (to be where we are). We’ve got to pick it up more in the second half of the season if we do want to make the play-offs but it’s not a bad start at all.

“I think if we do kick on from here then we’ve got a great chance.”

Crawley present the first test of 2014 for Swindon, as they visit the County Ground on New Year’s Day.

The two sides drew 0-0 in West Sussex in November and Foderingham expects a tricky clash.

“They’re a difficult side to play against,” he said.

“They’ve got decent quality in areas, they’ve got good players in wide areas that can hurt you if you give them enough time on the ball and they do the ugly side as well.

“But on the whole I think we are a better side so playing at home we should be confident that playing our own game we can come out with a win.

“Going into the new year you like to get three points and there’s no better way to do it than at home in front of the fans.”
