HAPPY new year. The start of another 12 months is always a chance to reflect and look forward. Perhaps 2013 more than any other year I can remember sums up the history of Swindon Town Football Club.

Just when you think big things are about to happen, the balloon deflates and you're back to concern about the future of the team we happen to devote a great deal of our life to.

You remember the start of 2013? Goals flowing like wine at a wedding, players seemingly lining up to wear the red shirt and a pied piper manager prowling the touchline. Oh and of course an owner with real financial clout. So what could possibly go wrong?

Well this is STFC, of course it'll go wrong. It did in rather spectacular fashion. As fans we were left bemused as the green jacketed one jumped ship after the owner did the same. One of our best players seemed bemused as he departed for the south coast and we had a new board who talked of a new, perhaps more realistic, financial structure.

Having reached the summit of League One, it was ultimate disappointment on a sultry play-off day in Brentford. A chance to build in the summer then for new manager Kevin MacDonald.

Surely things had settled down now and a period of stability was on the horizon. Yeah right, this is Swindon Town.

The new manager mysteriously stepped down on the eve of the new campaign and Mark Cooper got the gig.

Since then a decent first half to the new season, better than many would have predicted. As for 2014? Who knows? This is Swindon Town. Nothing is certain.
