TROY Archibald-Henville and Tijane Reis could be involved in a Swindon Town development XI fixture against Birmingham City tomorrow, but they remain some way off a return to first-team action.

The pair have resumed full training with the Robins, though they have been forced back into the gym while Town train on the 3G facilities at Lydiard Park Academy as their Liddington pitches are flooded.

Now manager Mark Cooper is looking to put the duo into competitive action but he’s wary of throwing too much at them, too soon.

“They need more than 45 minutes,” he said. “They need just three or four games because they’ve been out for a fair old while. The last thing we want to do is put them in to play part of a game and they go and do well and we get excited, throw them straight into the first team when they’re not ready and they’re out for three more months..

“We have to make sure if we do put them in, to be fair to them, that they’re right.

“We’ve just got to monitor them and make sure that they’re right. We’re not going to take any risks with them because they have been out so long and it’s about their careers. We’ve got a duty of care to think about.”

Meanwhile, Miles Storey is progressing well in his recovery from a hamstring injury but remains a doubt for the weekend clash with Peterborough, and Jay McEveley is still some way off full fitness.

“Miles is not as bad but he’ll be doubtful for Saturday,” said Cooper. “Jay will still be to the schedule we said of about a month.”
