SWINDON TOWN: Ferguson slams Tomlin after red card

Swindon Advertiser: Lee Tomlin was sent off late on in Peterbprough's 2-1 defeat to Swindon Town on Saturday Lee Tomlin was sent off late on in Peterbprough's 2-1 defeat to Swindon Town on Saturday

PETERBOROUGH United manager Darren Ferguson laid into Lee Tomlin after his midfielder was dismissed during Posh’s 2-1 defeat to Swindon Town on Saturday.

Tomlin was given his marching orders by referee Mark Haywood with five minutes remaining of a compelling contest at the County Ground after picking up a second yellow card for pushing Yaser Kasim to the floor.

The sending-off was Tomlin’s second of the campaign and Ferguson was quick to admonish his creative midfielder in his post-match interview.

“If Lee thinks that by behaving like this he will get a move away from the club he’s sadly mistaken,” Ferguson said. “In fact I will go the other way. We won’t simply wash our hands of him, I will make sure he doesn’t go anywhere.

“He now owes me and his team-mates massively. It showed a serious lack of judgement after he’d already been booked.

“I asked him what he was thinking, but I suspect even he doesn’t know. He will punished, but what that punishment will be I don’t know yet.”

Looking at his waistline, banning him from macdonalds should be punishment enough.

It seems all is not too jolly at Posh at the moment, their own forum suggests this to, with a lot of discontent aimed at Fergie and Tomlin.

Kasim did go down easily and I am never a fan of other players trying to get cards for others. However Tomlin left himself open by doing what he did

True, and really should've been a straight red on top of the yellow. What followed on the touch line was just ridiculous, adding to what was already a ridiculous amount of stoppage time. Been a long time since I've not left the county ground till five I clock!

hahahahahahaha hilarious. Good to see Ferguson getting nice and worked up. Love this article. To be honest he raised his hand and Kasim whether went down or not easily- personally helped by underlining what the player had done. Second half was brilliant on Saturday loved every second of it. Waching Fergy get worked up made it even more satisfying

I think Louis Thompson when he introduced was obviously given clear orders by MC to shadow Tomlin wherever he went. He did that very well indeed as Tomlin was beginning to have a bigger influence. That ultimately is probably what made him lose his head. Good job LT, great win STFC.

Kasim did not go down easily. Tomlin pushed him hard in the chest with both hands and got what he deserved. Complete idiot.

Exactly it was a stupid thing to do and worth a yellow card all day long. He should have tried to grab the ball instead.

kasim did not go down easily at all he was pushed with two hands from Tomlin who's more like Ronald McDonald the size of him. Tomlin had an attitude problem right from the start of the game blaming his own keeper for when he fluffed a shot at goal as well and constantly having a go at his team mates. As much as i dont like Darren Ferguson i have to agree Tomlin is looking for a move away from Posh which is why he did hoping Ferguson would lose his rag with him but its back fired. Tomlin has got a real attitude problem and i dont blame him not wanting to play for Ferguson who is over rated as a manager, he was a crap footballer as well and only got into football becaue of his old man and like his brother the dodgy football agent.
Daddy pulls all the strings for Ferguson.
I notice in the Peterborough evening news Ferguson fails to mention their keeper coach kicking Luongo.
Kidderminster knock them out the cup he could be on his bike.

Agreed, Tomlin was there best player and Louis did a great job not giving him time.
