SWINDON TOWN: No truth in Foderingham to Ipswich rumour

Wes Foderingham

Wes Foderingham

First published in Sport

THERE has been no interest shown in Swindon Town goalkeeper Wes Foderingham by Ipswich Town, contrary to reports online.

Suggestions emerged on social media last night that Foderingham was due for talks with the Championship club but sources close to the player have told the Advertiser that there is no truth in the story.

Foderingham is expected to remain a Town player throughout the January transfer window, with few clubs looking to recruit a new keeper this month.

Fodds is nowhere near the form he showed under Paolo team! why would a club risk a big fee on him when he's making silly mistakes! get your head down and work hard Wes,we all know your a class keeper, forget moving this season and get your form back!!!!!!!

Running a story to clarify that some rubbish posted by a 10 year old on twitter is in fact not true, scraping the bottom of the barrel me thinks.

Whenever there's a mention of Foderingham, the Adver always use the photo of him trudging off the pitch after being subbed at Preston. Without doubt the lowlight of his highly impressive Swindon career!

Agree Wes has not been as reliable as last season, but how much of that is down to the defenders he has in front of him and constantly being put under pressure from the continual back passes and having to distribute the short balls out instead of getting it down field. This has always been a weakness for Wes, the likes of Schmeichel could throw a ball to a player over the half way line. something Digby should be working on with him to improve. half an hour everyday until he can do it without ever having to big boot it again

We need a proper GK coach, Wes' form has gone from outstanding under the italians to pretty average under Digby. I appreciate what Fraser did by stepping in but surely we can afford to get some actual staff now instead of relying on old players to do us a favour

fods form dip imo is due to the coach.

digby, legend yes. top level coach no, in fact he's not even a permanent member of staff and operates as a consultant for the club. convenient as he only gets paid for the days he works.

under pdc we had a full time gk coach who lived breathed and ate the job.

diggers seems less interested in that and more in signing autographs and integrating with the fans.

sorry, its just an opinion and for his services as a goalkeeper, quite rightly he deserves legend status, I'm not so sure re the coaching side.

Strongly disagree with wes not being the same since Paolo left. He is much a busy keeper now Swindon play with a higher line. Under Paolo in league one & two he was really teased with a solid back 4 in front. Now the teams more attacking he's been a lot busyier keeper. He's had more shots to save = more goals conceded and more mistakes the lads in his early 20's and is still one of the best keeper in this division. So let's not skate him and be happen we maintained one of the divisions top stoppers.

This doesn't make sense to me

Foderingham is expected to remain a Town player throughout the January transfer window, with few clubs looking to recruit a new keeper this month

Few clubs may have been looking for a winger but it didnt stop bournemouth grabbing a bargain, nobody can say if wes will be here or any player until the window slams shut.

The only time i can see Wes going soon is if we need to cash in on him, The lad seems to be settled in Wiltshire and is getting regular game time. I hate rumours i heard one that he was off to Wolves as well because Palace we're buying Hennessy. His performance levels shouldn't even be in question he's outstanding for the age he is at, and I totally agree the reason more goals are being conceded is because we play a totally different style than under PDC.

Lets be honest we were head and shoulders above everyone in league 2 so he looked unbeatable, he is a very good keeper but i agree now we take more risks in matches pushing up high he has become more exposed than he has before and had more shots and more to do. League 1 is a fairly big step from league 2.

Shame you can't bring any sensible comment to the debate.

For once I'm in agreement with Harley Red - I don't have a great deal of confidence in either of our first choice (up until last week with Branco starting) centre halves. Fair comment really.

MarksDad, not sure if you resorted to name calling because of who made the comment but if so it's not really on.

Think only two people have a right to call Harley red names - Cooper and Power, and that would really be just tit for tat!
