SWINDON’S Mark Cox will compete against the biggest names in darts throughout 2014 after earning his PDC tour card at Qualifying School this weekend.

Cox took part in a host of PDC tournaments last season, including the UK Open, but will know attack the tour full-time after earning his place.

Despite not being able to secure one of the four tour cards on offer on either of the four days in Wigan, Cox’s cumulative performance during the event saw him claim his place through the Q-School order of merit.

John Newland and Jack Tweddell were also competing at Wigan but missed out on a tour card.

Meanwhile, also in Wigan, none of the Swindon players, including Dennis Smith, Johnny Haines and Chris Aubrey, were able to qualify for either of the first European Tour events of the season.
