THREE boxers from the Horseshoe ABC helped Glos & Wilts defeat Berks & Bucks 8-1 in Berinsfield on Saturday.
Chantel Simpkins saw off the challenge of Emily price over three rounds. Although Simpkins was the the shorter boxer, she used her impressive footwork to get under her opponent and win the opening exchanges. Knowing she was in front, Simpkins controlled the pace of the second round, picking her punches to stay well ahead and though to her credit, Price went on an all out attack in the third, she could not make up the ground.
Jorden Williams overcame a cagey start to beat Jordan Blake. Williams allowed Blake to dominate and take the opening round but the Horseshoe boxer battled back in the second, throwing several heavy punches to take control of the bout.
Knowing that they had to win the last round to take the contest, both boxers gave their all in the third round, with Williams coming out the victor.
George White produced an encouraging performance on debut to despatch of Elliot Darbin.
Meanwhile, Gary O'Reilly was unable to box due to his opponent being overweight.
This weekend, the Horseshoe is sending seven boxers to Newcastle.
