NEITHER Jay McEveley nor Ryan Mason are expected to be out of action for any longer than a week with the injuries they picked up in Swindon Town’s weekend win over Shrewsbury.

Mason lasted just 17 minutes of Saturday’s clash at the County Ground before being forced off with a muscle spasm in his side, while McEveley left the field of play two minutes after half-time after his knee locked.

Both players have been assessed by the Town medical team, however, and it has been established that neither has sustained serious or lasting damage.

The full-back and the midfielder will be given as long as possible to recover prior to Town’s trip to Walsall tomorrow night but, even if they are not fit enough to feature at the Banks’s Stadium, manager Mark Cooper expects to have the pair back at his disposal in time for Oldham Atheltic’s visit to Wiltshire on Saturday.

“Jay is touch and go. He’ll do well to play but if he’s fit he’ll play. We’ll give him as long as we can,” he said.

“Ryan Mason is sore so we’ll give him every opportunity as well.”
