SWINDON boss Alun Rossiter wants to draw a line under the ongoing situation with Nick Morris after confirming the Australian will be riding for the Robins next season.

The teenager was the first rider to agree a deal with the Blunsdon club before returning Down Under for the winter but after he was ejected from his spot at Premier League club Somerset to allow for Brady Kurtz’ increased average, doubts began to surface regarding his status with the Robins.

Morris believes it is imperative he starts the season in both of Britain’s top two divisions, both for financial reasons and for increased time on the bike, which meant he was looking around for a second tier team place.

A move to Sheffield was a real possibility but the clash of Thursday racenights meant he could not ride for both parent club Robins and the Tigers, leading to reported interest from Elite League new boys Leicester.

Any potential move to the Lions came to nothing and Sheffield have since gone in a different direction with their team building plans, meaning there are no Premier League team spots remaining for Morris.

The 19-year-old, who has stayed quiet on his future throughout the winter, is now likely to start the season with the Robins and wait for a team place to become available in the second tier, with boss Rossiter keen to leave the incident behind and focus on the club’s efforts on the track.

“It’s time to draw a line under the Nick Morris situation,” he said. “Nick and I have never had a problem, but certain other people around him have been saying and writing things which haven’t helped.

“He wants to do Premier League and we were disappointed for him when Somerset made their team change.

“Nick and I have always got on well and that will continue in the weeks and months ahead, he is an integral part of the Swindon side for the 2014 season and is going nowhere.

“And Nick has never said anything in public about the situation – it’s just some people decided to do things their way.

“He never really wanted to leave Swindon and in due course we hope an opportunity will arise for the lad to ride for a Premier League club.”

Sources close to Morris last night confirmed the rider is now happy to stay with the Robins and is now looking forward to the start of the European season in March.
