SWINDON TOWN: County Ground pitch to be assessed on Saturday morning

Swindon Advertiser: The County Ground pitch will be assessed at 8.45am tomorrow The County Ground pitch will be assessed at 8.45am tomorrow

SWINDON Town's County Ground will be the subject of a pitch assessment early tomorrow morning following the recent inclement weather.

The Town groundstaff have told the Advertiser that they remain optimistic the game will go ahead and the assessment is for the benefit of Oldham Athletic, whose fans and players are due to make the long journey down from Manchester.

A statement on the Robins' official website this evening read: "Following a conversation with tomorrow's match official earlier today, the referee will make himself available tomorrow morning to assess the County Ground pitch at the earliest opportunity.

"He will assess the surface at 8.45am tomorrow.

"Keep an eye on the official website and social media channels for further details."

Grim same as that ala Bournemouth inflatable cover used recently. At CG today getting my ticket and it was hammering down puddles everywhere - not confident it'll go ahead given the forecast for tonight/tomorrow a.m.

Hoping it's on but as above, if not call it off early. New Year's Day had driven fifty miles before I heard it was off!
