A JONATHAN Grounds goal was enough to condemn Swindon Town to a 1-0 defeat at home to Oldham this afternoon.
The former Middlesbrough defender pounced to fire through Raphael Rossi Branco’s legs and into the net after the Brazilian had blocked Jon Stead’s shot moments earlier, to settle a dire contest at the County Ground in the 73rd minute.
Town never really got into their rhythm on a tough pitch following heavy overnight rain, but despite improving slightly in the second period never really looked like finding the net.
To make a bad afternoon worse Troy Archibald-Henville, who returned to the team for the first time since November 2012 as a half-time replacement for Darren Ward, was sent off in stoppage time after picking up two yellow cards.
