JACOB Murphy plans to use his loan stint at Swindon Town to prove to Norwich City manager Chris Hughton that he deserves a chance in his parent club’s first team.

Murphy signed a one-month deal with Town last week and made his Robins bow as a 63rd-minute substitute during the 3-2 victory at Port Vale on Saturday.

The highly-rated winger, who has represented England at under 19 level, is looking forward to gaining the experience of regular football in League One and he hopes the results will be beneficial to all the parties involved.

“The football they play is brilliant and the more games I play the more chance I’ll get to show what I’m about,” he said.

“I like to get in behind, create play in and around the box.

“I’m not going to come here just to sit on the bench. I’m going to push for a start and it’s down to me to try to get that.

“I’ve been kept out of the team by some really good players at Norwich and this is the best way for me to get back into the Norwich team and it’s good for me to get the experience.”

Murphy’s twin brother Josh is also at Norwich and this represents the first time the two have been separated during their embryonic professional careers.

“There are a lot of things on twitter about me and Josh being split up but there are always going to be times when we’re apart and be man enough to deal with that,” said Murphy.

“I think it will be good for us in the long run.

“The thing about twin telepathy gets used a lot when we play together but Josh is happy for me to be here and I’m happy for Josh at Norwich.

“We’ve got to keep pushing each other.”

Murphy enjoyed a baptism of fire on Saturday, as Town came from two goals down to beat Vale 3-2 thanks to goals from Nile Ranger, Alex Pritchard and Nathan Byrne, but he was delighted to have been part of a superb Swindon performance.

“It was a really good experience to come on in a game like that.

“We were 2-0 down and I was thinking we had a mountain to climb but we got back in it,” he said. “We had so many chances in the first half.

“We battered them and couldn’t get a goal and they managed to get two.

“We hit them with the counter attack a lot and could have got a fourth.”
