SUPERMARINE were sunk 27-5 by league leaders Henley at the weekend despite a battling display.
Henley have yet to lose a game this season and they laid down their intentions early in the contest as they crossed the whitewash within the first minute.
Possession was fairly split between the sides in the first half, but Supermarine struggled to finish the chances they were able to create and were not on the scoreboard when the teams turned around.
By contrast, Henley were ruthless in attack and they were able to score three more tries before the break.
Supermarine improved in the second half and the strength of their pack saw them make up ground, and they were close to scoring several times.
Eventually the visitors got their reward when full-back Lou Grey battled her way over the line for a well-deserved try.
Unfortunately that was the only try for Supermarine and Henley secured a win which also secured them the league title.
Supermarine’s forward of the match went to prop Fran Brewer, while debutant Emily Clarke was awarded back of the match.
