ALICANTE-BASED boxer Ricky Pow thinks that the people of Swindon will love his boxing style.

Pow, was born in the UK but grew up in Spain and is based there, has mostly fought on the continent. Though the 11-2 professional did feature on Channel 5 boxing on the Tyson Fury undercard in the UK two years ago.

Speaking to the Advertiser, the 27-year-old said: “I’m a pressure fighter, I leave everything in the ring and I’m looking forward to getting in there now and putting on a great show for all the people in Swindon.”

Pow’s opponent is yet to be announced but will come quickly after a fight for his Spainsh promoter’s fight on Friday, February 21.

“It’s a very quick turn around but I’m trying to keep active this year. Because of the manner of my last title fight (Pow lost on cuts) “I’ve been named mandatory challenger for that WBC Latino title again. If we win these two fights then we’re going to be fighting for that title again in May or June.”

Pow secured a spot on the card through contacts in promoter Keith Mayo’s gym and expressed an interest in fighting in the country of his birth.

“I want to get back over to the UK and start fighting over here again,” Pow said.“Massive thanks to Keith for putting on this show and I think it’s going to be a great relationship for me, for Keith and for the whole of Swindon who’ll enjoy the fight.”
