SWINDON Harriers’ Lydia Rogers was the big winner at the Midland Indoor Championships as she picked up a broze medal in the under-20s triple jump.

Rogers improved her personal best by six centimetres to 9.87 metres in achieving her third-placed finish at Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena.

Hannah Tapley, competing for Worcester, won a silver medal in the under-17 women's high jump with a personal best of 1.65m, just 5cm short of the winning effort.

Abbie Chaundy and Johan Warensjo both set club records as a club-high 11 Swindon Harriers entered the Midland Indoor Championships.

Chaundy jumped a 5.08m long jump, for sixth place and ran the 60m in 7.95 seconds to equal her own under-20 women's club record.

Warensjo established the under-17 men's 60m hurdles club record with a run of 9.96 seconds in his heat. He also notched a season’s best high jump with an effort of 1.60m.

Two Swindon Harriers collected bronze medals at the South-West Schools' Cross-Country Championships, in Bournemouth.

Lillie Bellamy in the senior girls’ race and Callum Bampton in the inter boys both managed the weather battered course to pick up third placed finishes.

Bellamy, competing for Gloucestershire finished in 17.13, Bampton going round in 20.45.

In the Senior Boys race Ciaran Cooper was 23rd in a race won by Alex Carter of Wiltshire in a time of 26:30, Cooper was the second-placed runner from the county in a time of 29:40.

Miranda King finished 23rd in her first year as an inter girl in a time of 17:44.

In the junior boys race Nathan Huynh finished 31st in his first race at this level in a time of 17:44.

All of these athletes will go on to English Schools event on Saturday March 15 at Donnington Park in Leicestershire.
