PREDICTIONS LEAGUE: Results and Updates

Family commitments, workloads and a passion for the Winter Olympic, especially the British Curling teams have led to me falling behind with the results. Hopefully I can bring all the results of the past two matches and the current game with Orient on this thread.

PREDICTIONS LEAGUE : Colchester Results

The weather was the winner Friday night. Marcus and his ground staff did a great job in getting the pitch playable considering all the rain. Many have said that with the JPT match on the following Monday he shouldn’t have tried so hard. Trouble is that a club has to make every reasonable effort to get the game on and then it’s up to the Referee whether it is deemed safe enough to play the match.

So both teams took to the field and ground out a goalless draw on a heavy, energy sapping pitch. A point a piece was probably the best outcome.

PREDICTIONS LEAGUE: Peterborough JPT 2nd Leg Update

The chance of another Wembley appearance goes begging after a penalty shoot-out. As good as the spot kicks were in the previous round, they were poor against Peterborough.

Yet, the game shouldn't have gone to penalties. We had a stonewall spot kick in the first half, but for whatever reason, the ref bottled it. We should have been 2 up and Posh down to 10 men.

Once again, poor defending cost us the match. Murphy’s poor back pass in our own box gifted them the equaliser. Britt Assombalonga does not need much of a chance and he finished it well.

We were sitting too deep second half and we disparately needed another goal to kill the game. The game was crying out for a change but Mark Cooper’s options were limited Having said that, I thought the Town to a man tried their hardest. Louis Thomspon and Massimo Luongo ran their hearts out. Alex Pritchard and Yaser Kasim were strong in midfield. Murphy showed some good touches but at times looked out of his depth. Danny N’Guessan did very well but ran out of steam.

Oh how we missed Nile Ranger.
