See you for the Crewe game on Saturday.

10:55pm

Here's the front page of The Sun tomorrow.

10:46pm

Thanks for sticking with us through the trial of our live streaming from the County Ground. If you flick back through the library there are videos MARK COOPER, JACK BARTHRAM and NATHAN BYRNE.

10:31pm

Still waiting for Nathan Byrne. Most media outlets seem to have given him the goal but it was clearly an OG.

10:24pm

10:24pm

We're expecting Nathan Byrne in the next few minutes.

Just listened to Cooper on the video and he he is saying what a lot are sating on here, about the forwards not holding the ball up for us to create attack, which is a fair comment IMO.
Question is what can he do about that as we have now very limited options?
Apart from the referee references again i thought it was a good interview.
Cue the shooting down,,,,,,LOL

Glad the video worked. It's work in progress for our live video stuff and STFC it seems.

10:11pm

10:08pm

A few issues with showing Mark Cooper live this evening, but the video is ready to watch below.

10:06pm

10:05pm

When asked about the referee this evening, Cooper simply said: "This tops the lot."

Swindon Advertiser: Mark Cooper pictured yesterday

MARK COOPER

10:04pm

Town boss Mark Cooper had this to say when asked whether a draw was a fair result.

Swindon Advertiser: Mark Cooper celebrates Town's win at Colchester in November

MARK COOPER

“Probably, but when you have chance for a centre forward to roll the ball across the box for a simple tap in and then 30 seconds later it’s in the back of the net, it’s frustrating.

“When you aren’t having a great spell the fans can become edgy, which transmits to the players, but you’re only as good as the football you play.”

9:59pm

9:55pm

We will also be running a live video from Mark Cooper this evening.

9:54pm

Reaction coming in the next few minutes.

9:41pm

FULL-TIME: Swindon Town 1 Crawley Town 1

9:39pm

Not much urgency from either team

9:38pm

ATTENDANCE: 7,062 (102)

9:38pm

Three minutes added.

9:37pm

SUBSTITUTION: Tijane on for Barthram. 87

9:34pm

85 minutes: Murphy shoots low but doesn’t connect properly and his effort is saved easily by Jones.

9:31pm

GOAL 1-1 (Tubbs 80) Crawley break following N’Guessan’s missed chance and Simpson’s cross is converted by a sliding Matt Tubbs.

9:30pm

80 minutes: Another superb ball, this time from Byrne, frees N’Guessan but his shot is saved.

YOUR SAY

9:25pm

75 minutes: A lovely ball from Harley, again, finds Murphy but the winger’s shot is blocked. Harley’s having a great game

9:22pm

Cooper's happy with the performance of the ref again....

9:19pm

Mark Cooper livid at the decision not to give a foul for a late hack on Louis Thompson. The Town man is down getting treatment but soon jumps up. Thos boys are made of something special.

9:16pm

SUBSTITUTION: Smith off and replaced by Murphy. 66

9:14pm

64 minutes: Sully Kaikai whips a free kick towards goal but whips it a little too much and it flies wide.

9:13pm

63 minutes: Crawley’s best chance comes and goes as Dicker heads into the hands of Belford.

9:12pm

61 minutes: Louis Thompson drives forwards and drags a shot across goal.

9:10pm

YELLOW CARD: Sadler goes into the book for tugging back Louis Thompson. 59

9:06pm

57 minutes: Really neat stuff from Byrne sets N’Guessan away but the striker fires into the side netting.

9:05pm

9:00pm Tue 25 Feb 14

swwindon61uk says

Are the fans cheering now :-)

Not really.

9:05pm

SUBSTITUTION: Dannie Bulman on for Proctor. 55

9:03pm

53 minutes: Two Crawley corners are dealt with by Town.

9:00pm

Another stroke of luck this evening. Hope Cooper's happy.

8:57pm

GOAL 1-0 TOWN (Walsh og 48) Barthram swings a ball into the box, aimed at Byrne at the near post, but Walsh guides it into his own net. The announcer gives it to Byrne but no way is that his.

8:55pm

Town look brighter already.

8:52pm

8:52pm

No changes for Town, or Crawley for that matter.

8:51pm

Followed by Crawley.

8:50pm

Here come Town.

8:50pm

Crawley keeper Paul Jones hasn't gone in at the break and is out working on his kicking.

Sounds like you are enjoying this game Andy and Sam LOL.

How could you tell.

8:41pm

Here's some light relief at the break. The Adver's run down of the evolution of facial hair at Swindon Town. Massimo Luongo's awful effort from earlier this season fails to make the cut. Click here and enjoy.

Swindon Advertiser: Chris Kamara

8:37pm

A very frustrating half of football for Town but they're lucky to be level after Ward got away with a silly tackle in the box.

8:36pm

HALF-TIME: Swindon Town 0 Crawley 0

8:34pm

Three minutes added onto the first half of this beautiful game of football.

8:32pm

41 minutes: Town’s biggest chance of the half comes and goes as N’Guessan latches onto Smith’s flick-on but can only brush the ball into the arms of Jones when only four yards out.

8:28pm

38 minutes: Smith plays N’Guessan through but the ball doesn’t run smoothly for the big Frenchman and it’s out for a corner. Town take it short and N’Guessan has an effort tipped over by Jones. Nothing comes from it.

8:24pm

34 minutes: Yet more luck for Town as Ward chops down Proctor in the box for what should have been a penalty for the visitors. Somehow he gets away with it. Awful decision.

8:22pm

32 minutes: Simpson lashes a shot towards goal from the edge of the box but his effort flies wide.

8:21pm

SUBSTITUTION: Drury can’t carry on and is replaced by the beautifully names Sully Kaikai. 30

8:17pm

YELLOW CARD: Drury and Nathan Thompson come together, leaving the Town man thrashing around in agony, but the Crawley man only sees yellow. In fairness, both were stretching for the ball and Thompson is able to walk off the pitch for treatment before coming back on.

8:14pm

24 minutes: Harley lets fly from 25 yards but his shot is blocked. Really well struck.

8:11pm

Town living very dangerously but have been saved by 'the rub of the green' Cooper has been after.

8:08pm

17 minutes: A Harley corner is easily cleared and Town can’t work the ball back into the box.

8:04pm

The ball really isn't sticking to the Town forwards' feet this evening. Fans quick to jump on them.

8:04pm

13 minutes: Jones’ low cross is turned wide by Proctor.

8:02pm

11 minutes: Harley glides really nicely through three Crawley tackles before Byrne’s attempted cross wins a corner. It’s cleared.

8:00pm

More atmosphere at an Adam Rickett gig.

8:00pm

More atmosphere at an Adam Rickett gig.

7:56pm

Five miniutes: Belford does really well to tip a fizzing Proctor shot over for a corner, which Town clear before a free kick is given for a push on Nathan Byrne.

7:54pm

Four minutes: A really nice touch from Byrne takes him away from Connolly and the full-back shoots wide from 23 ½ yards.

7:52pm

One minute: A very ugly start for Town as Belford’s kick only just reaches McEveley, who in turn passes straight to Drury who lashes wide.

7:49pm

Town very much in a 3-5-2 it seems. Barthram and Byrne the width at full-back.

7:48pm

Town break their huddle and we are off.

7:45pm

Doesn't look like we are going to be kicking off at 7.45pm, as the teams are only now on their way out.

7:43pm

DANGER MEN - ANDY DRURY

Swindon Advertiser: Andy Drury on the ball for Crawley today

The former Ipswich midfielder has a good engine on him and, regardless of how well he plays, will be up and down all evening. Is capable of arriving late in the box and causing carnage if not watched.

7:38pm

Someone from Crawley has brought a drum.

Rockin Robin is out and you know what I think about him.

MAN IN THE MIDDLE

Tonight's referee is Steve Rushton and he's never refereed a game at the County Ground that Swindon Town have lost.

Sure, that's only based on two matches, but we're trying to get better at looking at the positives this term.

Overall, Rushton has taken charge of 13 games this season, issuing 30 yellow cards and three reds.

Sam, said at start of season i thought mid-table and still think we will.
Win tonight and we will back in the playoff mix whether people like it or not.
8th after 32 games i would say has nearly surpassed everybody's expectation at the start of the season.

I had them down for 11th place at the start of the season. I would consider top 10 a success this season given the change of the summer.

A certain Rory Fallon is part of the Crawley Town squad this evening. He's a hero around these parts and this is why...

Continued live streaming of Swindon Town's warm-up below, though my colleague Andy Warren could do with a steadycam!

7:09pm

Jamie Reckord, on the other hand, appears to have been dropped altogether. No word on any injury or maintenance going on there.

7:06pm

We've been told that neither Massimo Luongo nor Troy Archibald-Henville are injured per se.

Both are in need of a rest - Luongo having played nearly the entire season unbroken and Archibald-Henville due to the fact he needs to play it safe with his knee condition.

Swindon Advertiser: Massimo Luongo

TEAM NEWS

Three key players return for Swindon Town tonight but goalkeeper Wes Foderingham will not feature.

Swindon Advertiser: HOLDING HIS HANDS UP: Wes Foderingham

INJURED: WES FODERINGHAM

Jay McEveley and the two Thompson brothers – Nathan and Louis – are set to start after their return from injury and suspension but Foderingham has been ruled out of action for around three weeks after missing the defeat to Leyton Orient on Saturday with a groin problem.

Nile Ranger is out for the season, Grant Hall remains absent, Alex Pritchard has a medial ligament strain and Ryan Mason has suffered a recurrence of an old ankle injury.

6:33pm

It will be a difficult evening for Swindon but, if their play-offs aspirations really remain, a game they need to be winning.

6:32pm

They run into a Crawley side who, after a month's break due to a raft of postponements, are incredibly fresh and boast a new forward line of Matt Tubbs and former Swindon favourite Rory Fallon.

6:32pm

Town go into tonight's clash looking for their first home win in four attempts - a strange run given their form in SN1 this season.

Cooper out of his depth. Power living in a dream world with his 'way of playing'. Too many League 2 / conference quality players in the squad. 'Medical' team (aka physio) must have had some cutbacks as our rehab and injury rate is poor. Still, the thought of paying 27 pounds to watching sideways passing is good value.

Anyway, 7th or 17th it doesn't matter - i just hope Power realizes he needs a proven manager to be given freedom to run the squad and pick players or an ex pro that actually understands the game.

COYR. Beat Crawley and we are closer to safety and still in with a tiny chance of a playoff position to at least give the loyal fans something to get excited about.

Defence OK - but still not happy about playing people out of position - 2 RBs 1 LB and 1 CB make it up and the LB is not even at LB!

Why not Branco in for Troy and Jay at LB?

Front 3 are fine - but feel we are lacking creativity in midfield as Harley has not been an attacking threat at all - which ironically is how he made his name!
.
Could today be his day and been instructed to really push on as he has Louis and Kasim behind him - work for Luongo when he got pushed forward!

Think we will end up just short in 7th - but as Byrne said have to keep believing until it's over or what's the point!

Jock I nearly went out there tonight for my first time this season, but time I got back home just lost the will.

just had cofirmation we sat back on a 1-0 lead again what is going on? 2 points dropped tonight for definite, 3 points in the bag if we kept attacking but we sat back yet again and we have conceded yet again, is it management or is it the team, they need to attack and not just sit back, sorry to say it but play offs are gone unless we went on a winning 10 game streak which is not going to happen under our away form.
Cooper when we go in the lead do not i repeat do not sit back and try defend it, keep playing attcking football and lets go for a second goal

Well well that wasn't very good was it? They were denied what looked like a stonewall penalty and we looked laboured. Belford obviously under instruction to play it out but there is a time and a place, and with a new back 3 and their forwards pressing it wasn't the ideal time to play your way out.

Thought Louis had a good game and Byrne did ok but that was about it really. Smith needs to learn how to hold the ball up a la Ranger and the midfield to sometime have a shot or play it a bit wider.

With Wes, Troy, Hall, Luongo, Mason, Pritchard, Ranger all out and Harley struggling for form we could have lost it, but 2 points definitely dropped in my view.

Just back from the game. We were very poor in the first half, checking at every opportunity, passing backwards or sidewards at best. Very little forward movement or indeed, penetration of any sort into the opposing half. Very one-dimensional and predictable, A little better in the second half - but still in the realms of poor. Some better balls into the box and Harley seemed to wake up a bit which helped. Dany and Smith's first first touch was simply appalling. Certainly missed Ranger here. Also Dany had a 1 on 1 with the goalkeeper 10 seconds before Crawley equalised. He should have rolled it across the box for Murphy who was free. Wrong choice as the goalkeeper closed Dany quickly. Disappointed, but will continue supporting my team! Oh and BTW...the refereeing was dreadful though it made little difference to our performance.

In the words of Kenneth Wolstenholme " they think it's all over - it is now!" Anyone still harbouring playoff aspirations is surely suffering delusions of grandeur. Awful 1st half and although marginal improvement 2nd half we never looked really threatening. Good performance from NB and probably deserved mom - Kasim did ok as well I thought along with the Thompsons. Other than that no shout outs and we looked like what we are a mid-table outfit going nowhere.

Question is what can he do about that as we have now very limited options?

Met him before the game with my lad for 10 mins and he said struggling with injuries but hoping to push them back and get it to the front men a bit quicker.. could see they were trying but the ball just kept bouncing back from Smith.

When is Storey's loan up as may have been an option to put a ball over the top or in the channels for him to run onto as when Murphy ran at them late in the game their defence looked a bit wobbly.

Cooper needs to step up now and get them playing again, maybe away to Crewe will help

Not the most exciting game but the effort was there. Biggest concern for me is the strikers, neither held the ball up at all really, we are badly missing Ranger. Smith has not come anywhere near to a goal in several appearances now and Dany missed two very good opportunities. The second one just before their goal should have been squared to Murphy or at least hit anywhere other than straight at the keeper.

Shame on the 'fans' who felt the need to sarcastically jeer a young keeper who has only made a few professional appearances for trying to play out from the back early on (i.e. simply doing what his manager tells him to do and what Wes does). Pathetic and only going to have a negative impact on the kid & the team

Paul Benson scored yet again for Luton tonight, I think that is 15 goals now.

Very good job he no longer plays for us, although we pay a good bit of his wages. God forbid, he might score some goals for Swindon!!

Did anyone ever work out what Benson did wrong for Swindon Town, apart from being a major influence on getting us promoted in PDC's first year??

I think he fell out with the lunatic PDC, nothing more than that.

No problem, the way we are playing, we could be meeting Luton next season!!

Yes, its a train coming towards us. We should be winning games like this just to maintain a decent league position given our away form. Some much harder games to come and the underlying trend doesn't look good. Tonight should have been three points and very lucky not to have conceded yet another penalty.
Ward, please , retire at the end of this season and at least go out with some dignity.

We have suffered all season at the back and now its at the front as well, can't hold the ball up and far too many shots very poorly aimed. A very mediocre game which will suit Crawley well, but I'm now fearful of what is to come. Shame Evans isn't still in charge I've still got some slug pellets left over., lol.

While I appreciate what benson did for us in getting promoted, he is 34 now and has never done well consistently at league 1 level. Numerous managers have worked closely with him (from PDC, McDonald, Cooper, the managers at charlton and portsmouth) and come to the same conclusion. Yes he can score goals in the lower leagues but he's not the answer at this level.

Cooper quite right that the front men didn't hold it up, so he takes off Smith who held it up 2 times out of 10 and replaces with Murphy who is a winger who held it up 0 times out of 10.

N'Guessan looked dead on his feet after 70 minutes surely should have been subbed, probably not 100% fit either. Missed a sitter first half then should have played in Murphy in the second.

Byrne had one of his best games and gave some drive going forward and caused problems. Apart from Byrne no-one stood out for me.

Couple of good runs forward from Harley and Barthram, but very little to get excited about. Kasim has unbelievably good feet and embarrasses opponents with his skill but he just seems unable to make a forward pass, he is so frustrating.

If McEveley has had a worse first half then I'd be surprised, and Belford had a bit of a mare as well his ground kicking was awful and seemed intent on rollling out hospital balls. That was frustrating too as when he kicks the ball from his hands it was virtually landing in their penalty area could we not have got people forward to pick up on that?

Crawley well they may have had a good run but were just as bad and their set pieces were rubbish.

As for the ref well just when you think you've seen the worst along comes this one. Stonewall pen conceded by Ward not given, shocking tackle on Nathan only got a yellow, it was at the point where virtually every decision for both teams was wrong - clear fouls not given, soft fouls awarded and bad tackles not carded. It was actually good sport trying to guess what the outcome would be each time.

Where do we go from here now the mid-table finish looks 99%.

For me several of the players look tired, so would try and rotate as much as possible. Next game for me assuming Troy and Luongo are back would be

Belford
Nathan Branco Troy McEveley
Byrne Luongo Louis Murphy
Smith N'Guessan

Stonewall pen conceded by Ward not given, shocking tackle on Nathan only got a yellow, it was at the point where virtually every decision for both teams was wrong - clear fouls not given, soft fouls awarded and bad tackles not carded. It was actually good sport trying to guess what the outcome would be each time. Where do we go from here now the mid-table finish looks 99%. For me several of the players look tired, so would try and rotate as much as possible. Next game for me assuming Troy and Luongo are back would be Belford Nathan Branco Troy McEveley Byrne Luongo Louis Murphy Smith N'Guessan Wilesy

I'm not surprised one bit Benson is scoring at Luton as it's a league below his level and the team are banging in goals galore whilst top of the league.

For me Michael Smith is like a younger Paul Benson. A trier, not great at holding the ball up but puts in a bit of effort and runs into channels. Looks to have an eye for goal when he gets some service but very little service in recent games hence no goals. He even runs a bit like Benson.

Presumably Benson is not playing here as it is deemed it would be playing one level too high plus he has no resale value due to age.

Not good first half too many sloppy errors. Could easily have been two penalties, first for them from Ward's challenge and then a blatant push on Ward from a corner. Lacked proper wide men and ironic that the onlt decent ball into the box resulted in our goal ! Would like to see Tijane given a start.

For their goal did Jay have a chance to clear the cross and leave it ? Bit disappointed that it came so soon after the great chance for Dany, superb through ball but where was the midfield following up ? Dany and Murphy broke but not one other Swindon player in their half to pick up the pieces and keep the attack going if it did break down.

Disappointed in Murphy when he came on as he shied away from heading the ball.

There were some good moves and vision at times but more often than not the ball was not played with the right weight.

Ref made some strange decisions tonight, the leg breaking tackle on Nathan was five minutes late and high. That tackle could have put Nathan out for the season or worse, ended his career.

Disappointing result when all is said and done but I do feel we as a crowd need to help. Many talk about Mark's negativity but perhaps we are as bad and should do more. Easy to lay blame at one persons door but if we got behind the team more from the start we may see a different team. In the bigger matches like against City and Coventry the noise has been good and they have responded. I am starting to get the feeling that they are scared to make a mistake and not playing to their potential because they fear a reaction from the crowd. Big giggle cheering Belford after a couple of better clearances but did it help ?

You decided to go in the end then Grim :-)

His touch needs to improve admittedly but sadly not one cross into the box tonight for him and his height to attack. Missed Pritchard tonight and would like to see Tijane given a start to see if they can provide the width and quality he could thrive on.

Not the most exciting game but the effort was there. Biggest concern for me is the strikers, neither held the ball up at all really, we are badly missing Ranger.

Pathetic and only going to have a negative impact on the kid & the team
couldn't agree more on both fronts, at least Miles was something different (when is he back?). Met Belford the other week at Next Gen and seems a top bloke, he was telling my 9 year old the direction is to always pass out to the centre backs who peel away to the side. What was it, his 2nd/3rd start? Once he took a bit of power out of his kicks he looked ok but i'm always nervous when goalies try to dribble and 'take on' the striker.

At least Reckord 'wasn't in the 18'!

Benson had a good league two season for us but then struggled when we moved up. One goal in 15 odd league matches and his touch was as poor as Smith's tonight. I don't think he fell out with Paolo he was deemed not good enough. He was brought in late to do a job and help get us up but was then found wanting at a higher level.

Not sure about Smith yet, his first touch needs to improve and he needs to shield the ball better but he was rated by Charlton fans and being young this will hopefully come. Like you not sure he has really been given the service he needs and three goals in 6-7 games is a decent return.

I do think this notion of £27 is being overplayed. I think £25 is a lot by the way but that is influenced more by other factors I have identified. My opinion of course but...

The £27 is for Gold games, £25 for silver (as all games are now) and £23 for bronze. If there are 4 gold games, 14 Silver games and 5 bronze matches next season it will be cheaper to watch next season than this season if you don't buy a season ticket but attend every game.

Is it a good scheme, ignoring the fact that £25 is perhaps too much ? Could it improve the gates for the bronze matches whilst the others remain where they would have been any way if they were £25 (as per this season).

I agree £25 is a lot but the change could actually save fans money but make more for the club.

Cooper when we go in the lead do not i repeat do not sit back and try defend it, keep playing attcking football and lets go for a second goal
we didn't sit back defending a one goal lead, we got hit with a counter attack from a very bad miss by Dany. In fact if he had put away his golden chance just before the break it would have been 3-0 and game over. That's not to say he had a bad game he played well apart from his glaring miss's.

Don't know how you got a +4 making comments like you have on a game you weren't even at.

Scouse, I usually agree with most of your post, but not with everything you've posted tonight mate, I didn't think most of the team looked laboured, thought most of them put a lot of effort into their game. maybe Kasim didn't, he looked like he was scared of getting another yellow. There's an achievement, no cards for us tonight! lol. (despite another useless referee that just about got 60% of his decisions wrong). Also thought Hartley had his best game for a while. Smith will never learn to hold the ball up, because the natural ability to do that is not there. other than that. Not at all impressed with Murphy who looked very lazy, reminded me of that Spurs player Obika that wasn't prepared to chase after a ball after losing it.

This was another game that feels like a loss, Home form is severely dented with no win in 5 games and very few goals scored and with the 7 games we have left, it's hard to say where we are going to pick points up from the remaining home games

Sorry but that was dire. It is all very well having a "plan" but we are going backwards. Cooper kept talking on the radio about our side to side style...does he realise its meant to be end to end. At a time when they are looking to encourage season ticket renewals recent home displays have been abysmal ...two or three shots on target in a whole game at most. Perhaps Mark has forgotten there is meant to be an element of entertainment involved. There is no leadership on the pitch either...Ward must be the least animated motivational captain ever...you never see him react to anything. From my perspective Kasim has also regressed but is that due to how he is being told to play by the manager. The recent loan signings also look hopeless...Reckord not even in an injury ravaged squad and Murphy to me doesnt look very interested. Cooper slated the forwards but in terms of that position strikers thrive on service or making early runs...with our sideways passing midfield they are constantly having to stop/start/re-adjust and it must be almost impossible to know when to make the run. Cooper was laying blame on all sorts last night...referee , strikers etc. how about he looks at his team selection and tactics and takes a look in the mirror. A mid-field of two defenders and two holding midfielders was never going to create much. Have to say when Tijane came on he looked incapable of crossing which is a worry for a winger...three crosses never got past the first man. Sorry Mark you need to have a re-think and sort it out...really cant see us getting a win in any of our remaining home games with the current tactics and thinking by our manager.
